I used to visit Yahoo Questions/Réponses in France because I live in France. Most of the people don't believe in God in France. they are atheists. Why American people believe in God? How can we learn French people to believe in God?

I did not know that most French people are atheists. That is interesting. I think most Americans believe in God because it is a large part of our culture here.

Probably the best advice I can offer is to live your life by example. If you are a good person and are happy, people will notice and they will be curious as to why you are that way. As long as you are respectful and don't push your beliefs, people are usually receptive to that, but there is no one right way to encourage someone to believe the same way you do.

Best wishes.

I think it all boils down to concepts of spatial perception. The USA is a HUGE and WIDE OPEN country. Significant portions of Europe can fit within the Unites States. Becuse of this, I think that Americans feel both a sense of wide openness AND isolation. It's easy for religious fervor to take root in isolation because there's nothing to challenge it, or force it to adapt. Compared to the USA, Europe is a crowded place, your neighbor countries are rubbing up against you, sometimes uncomfortably, and because Christianity is an exclusivist religion, something like that isn't going to really work on a continent where your nearest neighbors speak different languages and possibly even have different words that essentially mean "God."

As for teaching French people to believe in God...I don't think that's something you can teach. You either feel it or you don't. God (regardless of Christian or non-Christian definitions) is self evident, and besides, Europeans in general have a longer history of bloodshed and violence in regard to religion than the USA has. The Dark Ages was fueled by what we'd probably call religious mania today...Since Euopeans tend to look back at the past more than Americans do, I suspect that there are "living memories" of inquisitions and burnings and crusades, all of which were religious in nature, but they violate modern concepts of civility, and so if you wanna teach the French (or anyone else) to believe in God, you're also gonna have to explain why people who believed in God caused such hardships (and many continue to do so today) and you will have to find a way to separate THOSE kinds of people from the God that you're trying to get people to learn about.

I grew up in a Christian family, do that's how I found out about God. I'm American by the way, and I think that it's basically who you live with, or who you hang around that makes you believe in God or not. French people can learn about God, by YOU spreading the word of God!! Yes, you can help save people and bring them to Christ! ^_^

America was founded by Christians seeking religious freedom. That is the main reason why so many Americans are Christians. The best way to help the French people believe in God is to continually pray for them. Also, if you are brave enough, I know it's hard, but go witness to them.

Listen, the best way for you French to believe in God is do not listen to Falwell, Robertson, Dobson, Franklin Graham, Joyce Meyers, Swaggart, and a like. These preachers preach the word of hate.

To me, the best way to believe is to read the Bible yourself. Let it speak to you. You'll find answers to many of the questions you have.

If I can give you one piece of advice, start with Matt:chapters 5-7 (Sermon on the Mount). That's were I started. And I don't follow the above losers. Put Christ into your heart first. He'll show you where to go. I know that may sound funny to you, but it worked for me. It may work for you!

I believe that the only way that you can truly believe in God is by knowing Him. The only way to really know Him, is by reading the Bible and praying. Praying is just talking to Him. It may seem like it's a one-way conversation at first, but put your heart into it. Really concentrate on being able to listen to God's voice. He speaks to people in different ways, so I wouldn't be able to tell you how He will speak to you. Reading the Bible will help you understand more on how to be able to distinguish His voice from all others. You can find a Bible at most local bookstores, but there are Christian bookstores that will definitley have them. I hope this helped you out.

I am so sorry you do not know about God. He has a book, called the Bible, it is the number one best seller in all the world!
You can get involved in a Bible study to learn more about it, as it can be hard to understand by yourself, especially at first. Find a Christian Church or Bible Study. One study that is world wide is Bible Study Fellowship, it is Christian, but non-denominational.
The more you learn, the easier it will be for you to help others to learn about God. Some Americans do not believe in God.
The USA was founded on the principle of freedom of religion.
We are free to pursue (or not to) the religion of our choice.
Have you accepted Christ Jesus as savior?Jesus' death on the cross was for your sins, you can be forgiven if you only ask it and ask Christ into your heart and life. I ask God to be with you and help you to learn more about Him and share Him with others!
God be with you!

First you can improve your English. You teach people, not learn them. Anyway, we in American envy the French their atheistic outlook, and look forward to the day all America will the same.
That is the day when America will finally grow up, and be mature citizens of the world.

If you're curious about learning more about Christ you can go to a local church and most congregations will provide you with a free Bible and if you have questions they will usually set up a time to talk to you to answer any of your questions. I personally believe in God because I have seen Him change my life--I know He's real.
