Games and activities to keep them busy and interested. Themes depend a lot on the childs likes and dislikes.
A craft project that all of the girls can do together is always fun. for my 10 yo, we got some cheap flip flops, beads , ribbon and faberic scraps and decorated them- you can do this with dollar store hats and sunglasses. Make cupcakes rather than a cake and let them decorate their own before eating them. decorating candles, candle holders, etc is always fun too
Here are some games my kids enjoyed:
Snow Toes- put some marbles in a pie tin or pan and put them in the freezer overnight. Have everyone take off their shoes and socks and everyone gets a cup - they have to pick up as many COLD marbles as they can weith their toes and put them into their cup- whoever has the most is the winner- a little messier but more of a challenge put the marbles in a bucket with ice and water - see who can get the most into their cup.
m&m switch give everyone 5 m&ms of random colors then they have to go to each other to trade m&ms - the first person to get 5 of all one color wins - no one knows what color the othger is trying to collect
M&M points- hide various cups full of M&Ms around the house- assign each color a point value but no one is to know the value except for you- the girls work together to look for the cups- you can give them clues, directions, riddles etc to find them- at each cup, each girl takes two M&Ms, whatever color they choose- at the end, add up the point values for each girl and whoever has the most points wins
the M&Ms can be replaced with any colored candies
scavenger hunt - instead of putting together a favor bag- take the party favors and hide them in secret treasure torves around the house this works for almost any age as the favors will be age appropriate- we played with 6 yo olds, I gave them each a bag then they read the first clue"rub a dub dub theres a clue in the ____" they went to the tub and everyone got a box of crayons and the next clue, "in the place you lay oyur head you'll find a clue tucked in the ____" then they went to the bed and found coloring books to put in their bags and the next clue- I did about 6 poem riddle clues they had to find and the last one was a box with the big prize and candy- you can do this to lead them to the birthday cake or whatever- for smaller kids you can lead them directly to the next stop and with older kids you can give more challenging riddles.

Eleven-year-old girls want to be like 16-year-old girls!
Play cool music and let them dance! Or get one of those teen music/dance videos that teach them how to do some cool dance moves.
Either book them at a local nail salon or have a few adults come over to give them manicures and pedicures. Buy cheap flip flops for them to decorate (glue on foam flowers, etc.) That is their take-home gift.
Take photos of all of their pretty feet lined up!
Serve pizza or let everyone make their own ice cream sundaes.
This will fit into a fairly short amount of time for a three or four hour party. It is tons of fun for 11-year-old girls without having a sleepover (and all the extra work, energy and liabilty risk that goes into that!)
Happy birthday to your lucky girl!

We did this: Got a hotel suite with connecting rooms (it was about $150 but we didn't give alot of other gifts), ordered pizza and used the hotel pool (we had the pizza and cake and present opening by the pool). Later that nite we set up game systems (each of the connecting rooms had a sitting room with a TV) and played movies in the actual rooms we also brought puzzles and board games. This worked out really great. We also had both boys and girls able to stay over since we had connecting rooms, boys on one side girls on the other with 2 adults in each room. One in actual "bedroom" one in the sitting room. Oh yeah, this is kind of corny, but everyone loved it. I bought a whole bunch of white t-shirts and fabric paint and let everyone go for it. The kids drew on their shirts whatever they wanted then had each other sign them (they all wore them to breakfeast the next morning). If you do this in a hotel make sure you bring a sheet to protect the carpet while using the fabric paint! Also there was a continental breakfeast so no prob with food or clean up for me.

Children of the age of 9-12 years old enjoy activity birthday parties and this is an excellent way to get a group of energetic children out of the house. For an outdoor activity, try
'Cookie Hunt'
Cookies are packed and hidden in the garden. Get them to search for the cookies pack. You can also substitute cookies with something else like dolls etc.
'Make Your Own'
This is where you get children to decorate or make their own party hats, cookies etc.
(Party Hats)Make sure you get everything ready i.e. papers, glue, decorative stickers etc. Get someone to monitor these children so they don't fight over things. This is also a way to ease your burden of getting party hats ready.
After they're done have a parade of some sort to choose the winner. Get also prizes for others to avoid tears and disappointment.
I hope i did help you with your problem. Good Luck and Cheers!
