You can take the Greyhound very economically from anywhere in Canada but getting through Montreal is a real hassle. I have made the trip three times in the last two years and got hung up in Montreal, twice missing the bus because they wouldn't honor my ticket to Halifax. In Riviere Du Loop you transfer over to the Acadian lines. To avoid the complications in Montreal I would suggest flying. If you check with a travel agent they can get you a good deal on airfare depending on the time and day you wish to travel. At times it is cheaper to fly than the bus especially if you travel midweek or in the off season. Ask about standby fare if you are able to leave on short notice.

Depends where your traveling from. Check cheap flights.com or expedia.ca or check bus fares. Sometimes you can get cheaper flights from different airports. In Halifax consider staying on the outskirts instead of downtown ,hotels will be cheaper. There is a lot to do in Nova Scotia and only a small part of it is in the city so consider seeing other parts of the province.

Just go, it's worth it. You may never leave, so it's already half price.
