Is it okay for me to dye my hair black if my natural hair color is dark brown. I have pale skin and dont want to come across as goth. Is black hair in for the summer?

Black hair takes a while to fade just keep that in mind...if you wanna go darker but not black, buy a dark brown temp dye.

I dye my hair a colour called darkest brown. Its almost black and looks black for the first while until, like all colours, it starts to fade. The reason I don't go black is becuase once you dye it black, its hard to change it. I had black streaks through my hair before and had to have them stripped out becuase it was taking too long to grow out and I didn't want them anymore. I too have pale skin, but don't look goth when my hair is at its darkest. Try using a sunless tanner on your face. I like the powder best and apply it lightly for some colour. Use a bright eye shadow and that should really help. as long as you don't dress goth, you shouldnt look it, but try darkest brown if you don't want to go black right away.

btw...all colours are in all the time. I see people with different hair all the time. There really is no "in" colour. I have like i said, darkets brown hair on top then bleach blond underneath and its awesome. do what you like and dont follow others. set your own trends all the time.

First of all I don't think you should put a dye in your hair you should use a semi permanent color, over time it will wash out and your natural color will come back. Going from a dark brown to a black is kind of extreme to me. I would have used a warm brown or something in the brownish area.

never dye your hair, keep what god gave you. Real beauty is the true beauty. Once you change it, it won't come back to you. Keep it natural, all colors won't suit everyone, you rather keep what god gave you from birth, thats what a true beauty is. :) if you wanna dye your hair choose either brown mix or blond mix, black for white people is bad. I say this because I think goth look is good looking, but if you don't wanna look like a goth, I recommend not to dye your hair. You sure will look like a goth. Think more than 2wice before your choose to dye your hair. I find most people who dyed their hair looks totally washed out by mask. lol

Sure, it's okay for you to dye your hair black. I had mine black for a long time and it never looked "goth" - in fact, it was black when I was in the military (it's naturally light brown) and no one ever said a word to me about it looking unnatural or "alternative". However, PLEASE keep in mind that once you dye it black, it's almost impossible to dye it brown again short of getting a professional to do it or grow it out. So, when you eventually get tired of the black color, be prepared to spend a bit of money to have it lightened!

Edit: Black permanent dye does NOT eventually "wear off". Trust me :)

I think you can dye it dark, and then add a touch or auburn highlights. I have seen a lady do this who is a hair dresser. She explained that totally "one color" hair dye will always look tacky, unless you "two tone" it. So if you have black hair, you will look like Elvira or Mrs. Munster unless you add some redish highlights. You can do this on the tips of your hair or framing the face or all through--but go easy on it. Also, if you do highlight, make sure you give your hair a "rest" between coloring it black and highlighting it. Good luck!

I don't think you should dye your hair black because you have pale skin. But you could go tanning then dye your hair black, then that wouldn't make you look goth.

YES! It's striking!

My best friend has black hair. Her skin is a beautiful porcelain white.

She hails from Scotland. Her eyes are a bright light blue.

Her coloring stops traffic. She is GORGEOUS!

She doesn't look goth at all. To look goth, you would have to put on a lot of eye liner and bright red lipstick. AND there's the 2 inch thick eye shadow.

She wears very little to no make-up at all.
