Here is a neat little excerpt
"Of the scientists and engineers in the United States, only about 5% are creationists, according to a 1991 Gallup poll (Robinson 1995, Witham 1997). However, this number includes those working in fields not related to life origins (such as computer scientists, mechanical engineers, etc.). Taking into account only those working in the relevant fields of earth and life sciences, there are about 480,000 scientists, but only about 700 believe in "creation-science" or consider it a valid theory (Robinson 1995). This means that less than 0.15 percent of relevant scientists believe in creationism. And that is just in the United States, which has more creationists than any other industrialized country. In other countries, the number of relevant scientists who accept creationism drops to less than one tenth of 1 percent. "

The truth is that there is zero scientific evidence to support evolution. Since science is objective, meaning that it's a set of principles that are applied in exactly the same manner from person to person to get the exact same result no matter who does the testing, this is definitive.

In other words, what a scientist SAYS does not matter even the slightest. What matters is what a scientist FINDS. When the scientific method is applied, what is the result. There is no variation on the method so everyone who engages this issue scientifically gets the same result. There is no call to authority in science, in other words. You either apply the method or you do not. If you do, the results will be the same from person to person and situation to situation.

And in the case of evolution there is absolutely no doubt as to what science finds.....no evidence. No evidence at all. This is despite massive scientific inquiry into the matter across many different fields, that spans several generations.

You can disagree. But you are engaging in dogma and politics...not science.

You asked, Have any non-religious scientists ever rejected Evolution in favor of creationism?

I found the following at the website in the Source List.
Dr. Stephen J. Gould, a paleontologist respected amongst Evolutionists prior to his deathbed conversion to Christianity, let slip a similar opinion once during a non-public meeting of his peers:

"Evolution is clearly an absurd idea; The proposition that all the complexities of life just happened ... due to random, contingent actions of the material world is unsupportable. [Extended baseball analogy to illustrate previous point.] However, we must believe in evolution because the alternative is unthinkable."

Probably not, I don't know. Many non-religious scientist reject evolution-they are not ready to join the church yet. Have you ever heard the theory of 'intelligent design' . wonder who came up with that idea. I'll give you a big hint-it wasn't creationist or Bible thumpers.

edit-re LZ1980 above. I can believe his poll numbers. But he leaves out an important stat. How many of those scientist believed in evolution??? His numbers only include those who are creationist- it assumes the rest are evolutionist-which they are not.

Many scientists have seriously questioned the validity of evolution, however, to completely reject it is social suicide in the scientific community. Not only that , but to reject it requires something else to replace it with. Everyone has a religion, Atheism is a religion, they believe there are no gods. Evolution can be a religion, it certainly takes a lot of faith to not doubt it. Non-CHRISTIAN scientists would be a better way of putting it.

Well, he is not technically a scientist, but Antony Flew, the "Billy Graham" of Atheism rejected Evolution last year. Here are some news blurbs.

"the most famous atheist in the academic world over the last half-century, Professor Antony Flew of England's University of Reading, now accepts the existence of God" (Dallas Morning News) "Professor Antony Flew, a prominent British philosopher who is considered the world's best-known atheist, has cited advancements in science as proof of the existence of God." (Insight On The News) "British professor Antony Flew, for decades one of the world's leading philosophers of atheism, publicly announced that he now affirms the existence of a deity." (Dallas Morning News) "Now, in a remarkable reversal, Mr. Flew holds that the universe was brought into being by an infinite intelligence." (Dallas Morning News) "This is comparable to Hugh Hefner announcing that he is becoming a celibate." (Insight On The News)

If you truly want the answer from a non-bias source try "The Case For" series by Lee Strobel. Lee is a non religious reporter that tries to fid the answer. He consults the top experts on all sides of the coin (coins have 3 sides BTW, obverse, reverse and edge) He report his conversations with these experts in a non--biased manner.

There is an award-winning legal editor of The Chicago Tribune who did. He may not have been a 'scientist', but he was incredibly serious when it came to investigation. His name is Lee Strobel.
