My husband is in BCT and he says I have 90 days from the date he enlisted to get this done. I only have a couple weeks left! Thanks!!

Actually, I have until August 3 - that's what he was told, but his graduation is July 20th. I wanted to have it by then. And, as far as I was told he doesn't have to be with me. That wouldn't make any sense since he won't be home until the end of August. He's in OSUT so he doesn't get leave after graduation, he goes directly into AIT. I was just told if I wanted to visii him during AIT I'd need my ID, so that's why I wanted to get it now...

fooey on the 90 days part..unless you don't mind not having access to the Commissary, Exchange and medical facilities. You COULD, if you wanted to, wait until he could be there with you.

However.. you may go to ANY base that offers ID cards, including Reserve bases. doesn't have to be a base of your DHs branch of service. Look in the phone books, in the government pages for local bases. if a number isn't listed for the ID office, then just call the main number and asked to be transferred over. What each bases requires will be different and their hours may be screwy, or you may require an appointment.

Well, if the 90 days thing is true, it's 90 days from his report date, so if he's still in basic, you probably have a bit longer than two weeks.

In order for a dependent to be issued an ID card, that dependent's sponsor (in this case your husband) must be present. He also has to enroll you in DEERS.

In answer to your actual question, the closest base i can think of is Fort Hood in Beautiful Killeen.

I have a hard time believing that the army has a time limit on getting your initial ID card.

Carswell Air Force Base, in White Settlement, between Fort Worth and River Oaks. If it's still there.

Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls.

The Naval Air Station in Dallas.

The nearest base that I know of is Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls TX. You will have to be enrolled in the DEERS program and that should be on file with the MPF. You will also need to take with you your Social security card and your birth certificate, and obviously he cannot be present with you if he is still in basic, I know my husband was not with me when I got my first ID card either. You should be able to call the base MPF office and make sure of all the documents that you need to take with you and you may even be able to make sure they have you in the DEERS program they are going to ask for his social and all of that, but don't quote me on that one. My advice is to call ahead first it is easier that way but I do know he does not need to be there, good luck.
