Hi, yes I live in the Okanagan (British Columbia) for the past seven years. Actually, I am American and found Canada a lot different than the US. There definitely are cultural differences and the language is different, though English, some word are pronounced differently. Canada is on the metric system and that took some getting use to and gas is sold in liters. It is truly beautiful here and we live near Okanagan Lake where Ogopogo lives. This is a diverse agricultural area where apples and grapes (for their famous wines) are primary. At first I was unable to find full time employment but started my own business and doing well.
The one thing I love most about living here is the easy access to beautiful camping areas within a relatively short drive from here. If you like off-the road camping there are still many free camping sites provided by the Dept. of Forestry.
You can even see 15 million Sockeye Salmon fighting there way up the Fraser River to return home. (near Kamloops) I have witnessed this first hand and words can not describe the wonder of it all.
I could go on and on. If you travel to Canada this is the place to visit.

I can't speak for the entire country (it is quite large and diverse) but I live in Sydney, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. I've lived here all my life and while it's not perfect, I wouldn't trade it. Like most places it has it's faults but it has it's good points too. If you don't like big city living, come on up. We actually know our neighbors here and if I forget to lock my doors when I go out, I'm reasonably sure that everything will still be here when I get back. When friends visit we most likely have tea or coffee at the kitchen table. Nothing formal, nothing fancy, but good friendly people to make your stay more pleasant.
We're also just a few miles from the beautiful Cabot Trail which is reminiscent of the Highlands of Scotland. We have sandy ocean front beaches as well as lakeside beaches. We also have the Fleur-de-Lis Trail which takes you through historic Louisbourg, the largest national historical recreation in North America. It's a rebuilt French fortress from back in the 1600's and the work is still progressing after about 30 years. Always finding new things out there. Alexander Graham Bell loved Cape Breton so much he lived and died here in Baddeck. Beautiful country up there. Paul McCartney likes it to. We've seen our share of celebrities and apparently they like it because the people here let them be people themselves. We're not an intrusive bunch.

I LOVE CANADA!
IT IS THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!
Canada has everything! It is clean, beautiful, friendly, peaceful, has big cities (e.g.Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal) but incredible natural beauty as well (e.g. Long Beach, Banff, Cape Breton).
http://www.canada.worldweb.com/ Made up of 10 distinct provinces and three unique territories, Canada offers a broad range of cultural and geographical features. The mighty Rocky Mountains and powerful pacific tides meet with vibrant communities in British Columbia, while urban flair mixes with cowboy culture in Alberta. Rural living comes alive under endless skies in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, while Ontario offers a diverse mix of big-city sophistication and relaxed country living. The sights and sounds of historic Quebec are not to be missed and the friendly fishing villages of Atlantic Canada are well worth the visit. Northern Canada offers visitors a chance to take in some of the only truly untamed landscapes in the world.

It depends where in Canada you live as it's such a diverse country! The west coast - B.C. is gorgous - but grey a lot of the time because of the mountains and it being on the coast. Quebec is like another country within Canada, however, it's gorgous and they have excellent skiing! Ontario is huge - Ottawa is historic and Toronto is an upbeat, very cool city! Windsor borders Detroit, MI. Canadians are very polite and friendly with funny accents and they like to use "eh?" at the end of some sentences. Canada is a very safe country and I'm proud to say I"m Canadian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yah. Summer is humid, hot and buggy. Winter is freezing, and you have to learn how to walk on ice (my American bf learned the hard way lol) but it's beautiful. We hardly have a spring or fall anymore.
The people are very passive and laid back. There's lots of politeness and fake smiles. People say "thanks" when the cashier gives them THEIR money back. Some would say we need a backbone. I agree.
Prices are pretty high, we pay way too much for everything plus we have huge taxes on top of it (14%). Rent is very high and you have to be rich to buy a decent house. Gas prices are from Hell. But at least we get free health care, although we still have to pay for our own medicines.
Jobs are a pain in the butt because you have to be bilingual (french and english) for the good ones and you don't get paid too well unless you take a job you are educated for.
We have all kinds of cultures and races here, it's hard to say what is Canada's culture as we are a mixture of them all. This is good for learning but it's horrible when you are trying to get service and it's a person who's accent you don't understand. Sometimes it's impossible to find someone who speaks clear English.
So there you have it, a Canadian perspective from a Canadian herself. Come on down! (but bring lots of cash lol)

I don't, but i've been there and i will have family living up there in the fall. Dispite people laughing when you say canada, it's really quite gorgeous. I love Victoria and Vancouver (anywhere in B.C.) and if your looking for a place to ski in the winter, try Whistler (it's such a cute little town). It does rain alot, but that is why it's so lush and beautiful! You should visit it and see for yourself. : )

We live in British Columbia. We chose BC because we knew we couldn't cope with the Canadian winters found elsewhere. So far, we've found BC winters to be milder than the UK. And now we're in the middle of a heatwave, and no rain in sight!
