You wouldn't know what it is like to be brain dead because there are no thought processes to remember. It's not like a dream, it's more like passing out from too many "G forces" of gravity and not being able to think at all anymore.
The tunnel of light with comfort at the end is the normal sensation of the brain starving of oxygen approaching brain death.
Once there are no "bumpy" brain EEG signals for a surprisingly short interval (a couple of minutes), they can't come back no matter what extraordinary medical methods are applied. So brain death is legally death in 43 of our states. An individual does not come "back" from a "persistent vegetative state." You can shut off the machines and call the funeral parlor. The Christian right made fools out of themselves over Terri Shiavo --she was ALREADY with Jesus.
There's a very interesting 1990 movie about this with Keifer Sutherland and Kevin Bacon called "Flatliners."

Judging by some of the questions, the last thing to go is the ability to use the computer. I can't believe how utterly stupid some of these questions, and non-questions are!
I'm interested in the way you put your question -- what is it like for a person who is brain dead, and then you ask atheists what it is like to be dead? Does that mean that atheists can't be brain dead? Or that religious people are only brain dead while atheists are completely and totally dead? I'd hate to think of going moldy in a grave, with everything else still alive but my brain not functioning. Unghhhh!

Brain Death: Is That Dead Enough?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is now considered by the medical profession and supported by legal and some ethical consensus that if a person's entire brain is dead, the person is dead. The reason is that if the entire brain is destroyed, there is absence of spontaneous breathing and expected cessation of heartbeat soon. It is on the basis of this concept that all life support treatments which the patient may have had in place before brain death has been established can be removed because the patient is now dead. It also provides the opportunity to obtain organs from a brain dead patient, who had previously given consent, while the organs are still in good condition for transplantation. Families of a brain dead patient may have to be educated about the physiology. However, some religious groups and even some health care workers are uncomfortable with a brain death definition of death since the patient may still have a heart beat and wish to wait until there is persisting absence of heart beat, the classical criterion.
if you will be some less ignorant you will understand that there is no connection between medical SCIENCE and believes=religion

being Atheist is not a bad thing. We don't live like we are dead. We are not really dead. Its just something that we believe in. We don't want to get married in a church, we practice spells and withcraft. And we wear all black and wear our hair in spikes.
You should not be afraid of atheist people.
And being brain dead, you cannot see much, or hear anything, You have no brain waves, no movement, You will sit in a chair or lay in a bed like a vegetable until your selfish family turns off the machines keeping you suffering. Keeping a person who is in a vegeatative state is selfish. No one should have to live like that. There is no movement , no NOTHING.
And you should be put to rest to rest in peace, Not sit around like a freak show for the everyone to feel sorry for.
