I told my boss I was moving and my last day is coming up pretty quickly. It turns out that I don't think I will be moving, so should I look for another job instead of going back to that one (I quit and came back once already)? I'm kind of worried about putting them as a reference, not because I'm not a good worker, because they'll think I lied to them.

What I would do is sit down with your boss and tell him/her the situation. Just say something like, you know, I thought I was moving but plans fell through and now I'm not. So, if you guys still have a position available, I would love to fill it, but if not that's all right too, let me know as soon as you can.

Are they pretty lenient? If they didn't want to hire you back, they wouldn't have already done it once, trust me. Since they've done that already, I would say chances are they think you're a pretty decent worker and if that's the case, they should be glad that you aren't moving and they get to keep you around!

But just in case, I would look for another job anyway.

First decide if you like your work environment and if the answer is yes then you should sit down with your supervisor and be honest explain that your plans have changed and that you really enjoy working for the company and would like to stay on.

Chances are your boss will appreciate your honesty and choose to keep you on the payroll because the company will not have to hire and train someone else.

However if you don't like your work environment then look for a better work environment and you maybe able to use them as a reference if you were a reliable employer and besides they rehired you before so I don't see any problems.

You are able to change your mind, people do it all the time. The one who's looking at hiring you looks at your track record. So, just being a good worker does not count for much, if you just quit all the time or it looks like it on paper.

Things happen and change. Once is ok. Otherwise, you shouldn't do that unless you work at McDonald's or some hillbilly dime store.

True, I would want a stable and honest employee working for me and it sounds like you aren't either of those. Burn enough bridges and you'll soon find yourself isolated and alone.
