there are many ways to memorize the Bible, as with anything else:
-you can repeat them outloud several times...
-you can write them out several times...
-you can write it on a post-it and place it somewhere where you'll see it a lot...
-you can sing it out...
-you can personalize it (i.e. "for God so loved wthmassage that He gave...")

Read the bible so much that I have a lot memorized. Then a good concordance so if you only remember a few words, you can still find the scripture.. I have more problem with where, than remembering the scripture..

The less painful approach:
As with learning languages, I find actually using it with friends et al helps -- scripture was never meant to be learnt in a vacuum! Go through life thinking "what scripture would be appropriate here?" and then sharing it. Obviously it needs to be quoted sensitively and you can discuss what it means to you too. It doesn't have to be major. Oh, and do the same when reading the Bible by yourself -- think about the types of situations you could use it.

Yes, richbro is right. The index cards. You read the Bible write the scriptures that speak to you or in order whichever you feel more comfortable with and memorize them. Kind of like flash cards. I have just recently started doing so and it makes it much easier. God Bless!

After much reading of the bible, I have proceeded to make my own private concordance. Many bibles have a small concordance in the back, if you remember an important word in the verse, you can look it up. You can go to biblegateway.com, and check verses or words in many different translations.
I usually remember the words, but not the numbers or book. Have fun studying.!!!

Repetition. Write the passage on a notecard and carry it around with you for a week. Take it out and read it often, many times a day.
Same way you memorize your phone number, address, Pledge of Allegiance, etc... Just do it over and over.
You can memorize faster if the passage has concrete, practical application to your life.

I am the worst at this. this is not an ability God seems to want me to have... And I have asked him... I started typing my thoughts on the God stuff into a free web site I signed up for. just for somthing to do to help me to get the thoughts into my head... I have ended up with an outreach that is over 100 pages total... Still can not keep all the chapters and verses streight in my head...
Do the best you can and God will know and understand. He knows your heart. Your Love for Him is all that He wants from you... If you Love Him you will do all you can for Him... He knows this of you

Do like me. Read the bible for 30 years to find out that it is based on myths and partially true stories.
