Based on the "Christianity" of some who answer in here, answering with "Well, I don't do that, I just leave them alone..." I would have to say, "No."
They deny the Great Commission of Jesus Christ, where He said, "Therefore, as you go, disciple all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you each and every day until the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)
Yeah, we're afraid of man's rejection, instead of being concerned for their future. If a person were driving down a road at night in the fog, and a bridge was out ahead, wouldn't that person have a responsibility to tell others about it, so they wouldn't die? Of course they would.
That is what Christians are called to do. There is a final judgment coming. Do you want to approach God on the throne with your own ability to be righteous, or clothed with Christ's? Since no one has ever been able to obey God's Ten Commandments, I fear for those who claim that they're "good" people, when they have lied, stolen, and committed numerous other acts that offend a holy God. As James says, "For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point is guilty of breaking all of it." (James 2:10)
And THAT, my friend, is why we're supposed to "get converts." I just don't think that most of the church is trying all that hard.

No. We have been given a mission by Jesus Himself to "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel"- Mark 16:15. Have Christians lived up to this? I don't think that Christians in America are trying hard enough, and certainly not the other way around.

No, not in the everyday world. The only ones who really go after converts are the big name "holy people" like Pat Robertson. That's only a scheme to get money as most people know. The everyday kind of christians, like in our communities don't tried hard at all.

Do you mean converts, or do you mean are we trying to convert convicts? There is a good reason you know, usually if an inmate becomes a Christian he doesn't go back to prison. If you mean converts then we are supposed to try to bring others to a saving grace, because God doesn't want anyone to die a sinner and go to hell.

Yes we do. How much more believeable would it be if we Christians actually live the faith that we claimed? That is really the question.
See if we Christians live the life modeled by Christ then the love he showed would show through. However too many of us point a finger of blame and fail to notice that on the same hand 3 fingers point right back at us. (sad isn't it) That people who claim a faith act as if they never studied it.

It's called "The Great Commission".
Those who obey it will go out into all the world to preach the gospel (to the poor in spirit). Baptizing them in the Name of Yeshua the Messiah for the remission of sins. The death of the old man of sin and the birth of the new man (a new creature).
a.k.a. rebirth or "born again"
Another amonition, however, is to visit the souls in prison. Those that are willing to obey this are rare jewels. (A weak beleiver thinks they're too good to associate with prisoners. Hopefully, they'll grow up.)

The Bible says to the Christian "Go into all the world and preach the gospel."
If you saw someone about to step out in front of a car or bus, or some kind of danger, wouldn't you want to stop them?
Without Christ, you are doomed to eternal destruction, but the good news is that Jesus has made a way for you to be reconciled to God.
Acknowledge your a sinner - for all have sinned and fallen short of God's standard.
Ask for forgiveness and cleansing.
Turn your whole life over to Jesus - for He cares for you.
He will give you a new life - one with purpose and plan. Plans for good and not for evil.
Trust Him today.

Sad to say, yes, I think that many try too hard. Having lost sight of what they were called to do.
No where in the new testament does it say go out and beat people over the head with the bible and thou shalt convert them. It simply says: "Go into all nations and spread the good news". What people do with that news is entirely up to them.

How much trying is too much if you knew someone's house was on fire and they - for some reason unbeknownst to you - didn't realize it?
Oh, and - by the way - Christians aren't trying to "get converts" - they're trying to rescue others from the flames of hell, just as someone once rescued them.
