When I was young, my parents did not practice any type of formal religion. We didn't go to church, and we didn't pray. My parents fought constantly and my Dad was a mentally abusive alcoholic. At 10 years old, I was a mess. I was depressed, over weight, low self esteem and failing most of my subjects in school.
One day, a little old lady my Dad had done some work for, came over to pay him for the job...oh great, I thought...He's got a little money, he'll be hammered tonight. But something wonderfully strange happened. The lady, started talking to me. We sat out on the front porch for at least 30 minutes. I was really shy, and I suprised myself that I could talk to her so eaisly. After a while she asked me if I could like to come to her Church for Sunday School some time. I was really excited and went in and asked my parents. Well, they didn't know, they had to think about it...
Later that afternoon, my mom took me to town with her. On the way home, instead of stopping at the liquor store, she stopped at a childrens clothing store and bought me a beautiful new dress for Sunday School.
Sunday School was awesome! After a while, I started teaching my family some of the prayers I learned and we took turns saying them at meals. In the following weeks my Dad started AA and quit drinking. They stopped fighting so much. I started making better grades. I lost weight. I started making new friends. Then on one beautiful Easter Sunday, my parents, for the first time ever, went to Church with me. It was that day...that absolutely perfect point in time I realized there was a God.

I first realized there was a God when I was 22 yrs old and four members of my family died and I know that there is no way I could have survived that w/out some sort of help that certainly did not come from me.
And just recently I have given up a very destructive habit and again I know there is no way I can do that alone; I will not quote the Bible (yet) but for the first time in my 40 yrs and I reading it and actually 'getting' it.
I know lots of ppl who believe in a "higher power" and they don't call it God, hey whatever works -=- we all have to believe in something don't we ?

Okay, I want you to look around you. Look outside. You see all the birds, trees, nature in general? Look at yourself. Who else would've made you? There is a Almighty Powerful God that loves every one and he made every thing in nature. God was always around that's because he made the whole wide world? I mean, how did this world come to be if it wasn't God. Even if I wasn't a Christian I would still believe because Evolution doesn't make any sense. This really didn't necessary come from the Bible, but it comes from faith.

If God doesn't exist, then how did all of this come to be? I mean, realistically, how could everything have been in a mass and then exploded and come together so perfectly for life? It's just not logical. And even before that, where did that mass come from? If God doesn't exist, how does ANY of this make sense. Think about it.

I can only answer from The Truth of my Salvation. you may read my testimony if you like at.:

as my testimony is to my Christian Faith and WHY I KNOW There is a God... it dose contain referance to what you call the bible. But I did not even own a Bible at the time of my salvation. My knowing that God exists came from what Goe revealed to me in the instant of my salvation... The Book just confirms to me what God already told me.

All you have to do is look at nature. You think those sunrises and sunsets are an accident? Look at flowers, clouds, how blue the sky is someday. When the moon looks like you can reach out and touch it because it's so big and close, you have to know that there is a loving God there.

The fact that you are here asking this question is proof that there is a merciful, loving God. Or you would still be trying to join with some other atoms somewhere, with no consciousness. Glory be to God on High!

I had a dream in which I saw a logical proof for the existence of God. Of course, I fell back to sleep after being jolted awake by the realization and then forgot the proof... I had been agnostic up to that point.
