My 1 year old male cat has been netured but still urinates on things. He did it as a kitten but after some reprimanding with a spray bottle and rough handling he quit. I just got a new comforter; he peed on the spread, all the shams, and even me at night. He peed in two plastic bags in front of his litter box and he got on the dinner table and peed on a bag there too. We put his face in his pee and use a spray bottle but it seems to not work. He knows he does the wrong thing when he pees because he seems to coware around. He is the sweetest cat and I don't want to get rid of him. What should I do?

First check with your vet, there may be something wrong with him like a urniary track infection or I know this sounds weird but allergies. My cat used to potty around the house, but she used to always use her litter box. We finally figures out that when she gets sick she has bladder problems. She is on special food and is good to go. Also once a animal pees somewhere they always smell there scent and they think its okay to be there again. A carpet cleaner told me to use vinigar and water to remove the smell..if the cat doesnt know how to use a litter box lock the cat in a room like a bathroom put a litter box, food, water, toys, etc. until he start using the box. Cats are usually very good about litter boxes so there may just be something wrong. Make sure also that the litter box is in a very convient place for the cat. Sometimes if the box is too far away the cat can't make it there in time.

You need to disinfect everything, also with male cats when anything new comes in, they tend to leave their smell on it. Almost like tagging it, marking his territory. Buy some stuff to stop them from peeing on the furnitures or in the house..To know if this stuff really works, spray near the cat, if he starts to run away from the smell, keep it handy in case you see him trying to pee on something and give it a small squirt. Also, you may want to try rubbing his face in it, say No, and smack him with newspaper. The crackling sounds of paper scares him, with the water bottle makes him think your playing, its a game to him now.

we have been through this and it is very difficult. we kept giving our cat chances over and over, but there came a point where we couldn't live like that anymore, no matter how much cleaning we did. We had to give him away - we loved and miss him dearly, but we are humans and have to live decently. We made sure he was on an acreage so he could pee all he wanted.

Nuerterd is so that he can't have kids not for pee. Think about teaching him to use the litter box.He may know what's wrong but you need to teach him whats right. Or putting him outside to do his buisness. On a leash of course.

If it has been 1 yr now, he wont ever be domesticated to quit. Either give him up, or put him out, or live with the filth and smell

As Jerry Seinfeld would say, that's a shame.
