What makes you think that?

Anyway, if you really think it is the case, talk seriously to your parents, tell them your worries and tell them how much better you would feel if they get someone to check you out.

I'm sure if you speak to them honestly, they'll try to help you.

If you are over 16 you can see a doctor without your parents. If you are under 16 is there a counsellor at school you can talk to?
Or you could contact SANE line, the number is in the yellow pages. Alternatively you could phone childline. It sounds as if you are in a lot of distress, don't worry there is help for you. Your parents may need to hear it from someone else just how bad you are feeling. Please confide in a responsible adult outside of your family
take care

If you cannot convince your parents, I would ask for help from someone at school/work that you trust. Either tell them about your situation, or if you want to keep it private, just say: "hey, I'm having some problems and I think I need to talk to a professional about them. Is there anyone who you could recommend or could you help me find someone?" There should be resources at your school like a guidance counselor. If that doesn't work, I would suggest researching counselors in your area (i.e. internet, yellow pages, etc). You can always call them and ask them if they are seeing new patients or if they can refer you to someone who can help.

Take yourself. If you are in high school, go to the guidance counselor or school psychologist. Your parents may believe you more if they hear it from a professional. If you are over 18, you don't need permission to seek help. There are also some therapists that offer their services for free, but you may not be able to go if you are under age.

see the therapist at school......every school district has one....tell him/her that you feel like you need help.

You could also call a help line....thay can point you in the direction of programs for teens.

What makes you think you have mental problems though?

Good luck Kiddo.......gotta tell you though, most people who have mental problems...don't realize it.

certain, like what are your symptoms? If your parents won't take you to see a doctor, then go yourself and if the Dr. gives you medication for your disorder show your parents what he gave you, or have him write a note so your parents will understand what you have.
