In 98% of all pit bull attacks are cause by dog who are owned by
the kind of people who make their dogs mean by how they train and treat the dog. These people are almost always in some of illegal activity. This kind of person dose not care if they break another law if the only thing that is going to happen is if the dog gets taken away and killed, the animals would end up dead anyway. We need to do soming about the bad owners that will get rid of the bad dogs for the most part. Dogs are just wolfs hiding under a mask. There are going to be things that happen. its the humans that need to be controlled

Dear Denver

Unfortunatly Pitbulls are on the list "Killer Dogs" , Rotts, Dobermans, German Shepards etc. I hate to say this but its never going to stop. Just like poor parenting is a problem so is bad dog ownership. Point fingers all you want at the breed but people buy what they think are cool pets with no idea how to train or any sense of what the breed can do.I was in a petstore with my children ( 8 and 10 years old ) in that particular pet store they had a Rhodisian ridgeback and a King Corzio. Both of these breeds are quite big ( males are over 100+, females are a little lower) and very powerful. I have seen them do some amazing things and scary things, but these people who sell customers these dogs were telling people they are easy to train ( not true, they are very strong willed canines and not very easy ) they get along with others especially children ( again not always true) . I hate to poke fingers and say which breed is bad and what is good. Untill chihuahuas and shih tzu get on the list( which I would rather deal with an aggressive large dog then a small ankle biter) it will never end. I know be cause I am a CVT and I have seen it all . I have worked in ER for 5 years , I have seen dog fights and , gunshot , poisoning etc. Its pretty sad , but it happens . You could go after the police officer that shot the dog but, you have to prove with witness that the officer was in the wrong. Your state I believe has the anti- pitbull order where its illegal to have one( yes it is true , in some states it is ilegal to own) .Good luck

Richard, know what you are talking about before you say anything that isn't true. Animals become the way they are through conditioning. They have to be taught to be vicious. I know many dogs pitbulls, pincers, great danes, dalmations from breeder and friends and they have to be trained from birth to be vicious through conditioning and rewards for violent behavior. One pitbull is so easy going to the point of being lazy and whenever you are around him, he wants to be around you. This pitbull would be the worst guard dog and would probably let the burglers in. I know dalmations that are the exact opposite and this is from how they were raised at birth. Once people awake from the stereotypes of which dogs are dangerous and which ones are not, these types of issues will be non existent.

We are having the same BS in Ontario, Canada. They are taking it to extremes. It's like saying one bad apple in a barrel spoils the whole bunch.
For an ex. (and I am not prejudice) A lot of gangs are black. Does that mean that all black people belong to gangs and are bad? Should all black people be banned from Ontario, Canada? I know that this is an extreme example but it is to make a point about how stupid the Ontario Liberals are thinking with the pitbull ban.

I wouldn't have a problem with NO ONE HAVING A PIT BULL AT ALL. There's too many mentally and emotionally deficient people out there who don't give their dogs the care they deserve, and that makes for an unstable animal. Don't get mad at the cop, get mad at the idiots who didn't treat their pit bulls right, and whose pit bulls have maimed AND KILLED kids, the elderly, etc, unprovoked, and who have indirectly fostered the opinion that pit bulls are, at heart, killers.

(Plus, look at them... they're bred for killing.... )

besides the undeniable fact that it is also no longer unavoidably merely 'guidance' v 'genetics'. guidance merely isn't the right time period, too narrow. 'administration' would probable be better. for instance as a lot as ninety% of canine which kill or heavily injure human beings are unaltered men. that's neither 'guidance' strictly conversing nor 'genetics'. Likewise the CDC got here across that 2/3's of canine in extreme chew incidents were chained up outside. that is glaring that many or lots of something else are canine illegally operating free. those type of issues in part make canine extra aggressive straight away (unaltered canine are, canine operating free pretty in packs tend to be, chaining up a canine can make it extra territorial than in the different case) yet also markers of a particular type of proprietor ideas-set and behaviour in all probability to reason complications. Outright 'guidance' subject matters like hand-crafted safe practices guidance, also are in all probability to flow with it, and likewise in all probability to reason human aggression incidents. this type of proprietor is likewise linked with back backyard breeding. yet, i hit upon a great number of the sturdy statements about 'inbred risky pits' as well because those 'that is merely guidance' to be poor in any absolutely clinical info. in actual incontrovertible reality that for each of the talk about it, this concern has no longer been studied in a strong clinical way. Such sturdy statements are many times in protecting with distinct human beings's own impressions, in many circumstances received from incomplete or incorrect media money owed, that's valueless. or perhaps to the volume the impressions are received from first hand adventure, i have dealt with a great number of 'pit bulls' and have not encountered many if any with undesirable temperaments in the direction of human beings, yet I understand that would variety with the position and circumstances. the in person-friendly words element that almost each and absolutely everyone with actual credentials in veterinary technology has the same opinion is that there is not any info that probability of human aggression or 'unpredictability' can reliably be ascribed to a canine in protecting with what evidently like. Such attribution by utilizing visual charm is the essence of Breed certain legislations, and that is nonsensical. once each and absolutely everyone has the same opinion BSL isn't the answer to something, then there's a lot of room to talk precisely what each and every of the contributing aspects, and their weightings, are contained in the vicious canine project.

Right now, Society is making aggressive breeds, a scapegoat in their views and that they must be erradiacated. It is the owner that should be extrerminated when he or she trains the dog to be aggressive, and menacing.

Most Pit Bulls are nothing more than big babies in my opinion. But it is the owner that makes me have a low opinion of them.

Sounds like you've got grounds for a lawsuit unless your dog was attacking someone! That's total crap for anyone to be able to shoot a dog for no reason. Write to your congressmen and senators and tell them to stop making breed-specific legislation! Any dog can be vicious - irresponsible owners should be held accountable for their dog's actions whether they are Pits or Chihuahuas!!!
