My Sony cyber-shot 3.2 megapixel camera has a new memory stick.I put in new batteries (Kodak) yesterday ;and when it did not work today I tried the two spare(pk of 4) and bought another pk of a different brand. The batteries are in correctly.I have tried every possible combination and so has my brother. What do I do next?Any suggestions about what to try before I go out and buy another camera? Camera repair is a very low option because I know it can be costly (like repairing a car). Any suggestions about a troublefree or quality brand? I have had the camera for about 27 months and at least 11 mths have been plagued with trouble.

Sorry to hear that you have had troubles. I have a 4 year old Sony 3.2 DSC-p8, and never had any trouble. But it has a rechargable battery.

Did it ever work with the new Memory Stick? I would go back to the old one to eliminate that variable.

You could call Sony customer service. Sometimes they have a new idea on diagnosis, or have an unannounced extended warranty on cameras which have had troubles.

Good Luck

I haven't heard any quality issues with Canons, but I'll wait for some owners to voice their opinion. Nikons are good, but one older model had a lens error. They're probably fixed all the errors for the new models. I think both are pretty safe bets.

since you don't want to fix it why don't you buy a new one and be done with it?
