googolullage, ...yes a counter bargain would have been a sensible approach, bargaining is a common practice in all Arab countries after all.

Aleks, that's a good point you make aand drampor kind of backs it up when he says the devcvil is fictional because it knind of implies that Jesus must have been too or that the story is a load of old horse-poo.

there is an implicit bargain.

one cannot exist without the other.
good cannot exist without evil to counterbalance it.

god, being all good and holy, needs satan, even though he would never admit it. the story of job illustrates this, where god tells satan to do his worst to job to see if he will still worship god, or if he will fall into despair. god is the puppet-master, and we are his playthings. god needs satan to test us, to see whether we have the "balls" to enter heaven. without satan god is just.....well, unimportant.

the whole deal is rather fishy to me, which is why i don't believe either exists.

Ah yes, the J.C. vs Lucy controversy. So what is the deal then, if any are above reproach certainly the Savior of all Christendom would be I think. As to the devil, well it 's the devil and frankly the track record is questionable. I am comfortable that Jesus did not make a bargain with the devil, given that the devil is fictional as well as untrustworthy. Thank you for this question.

There's a story that Jesus was tempted in the desert, by Satan, after or during a 40 - day fast and prayer period.

This story was not witnessed by ANYBODY, because Jesus was alone, so it is of doubtful provability.

But supposedly, Jesus rejected the tempting offers to fall down and worship Satan, and said "Get thee behind me!"

I don't know what kind of a deal that could be interpreted as.

I also wonder why Jesus didn't come up with a counter-offer: "Satan, if you worship and follow ME, I'll redeem you and your demon minions, along with when I redeem Humanity. " ??

"Because He still went through the terrible pain it took to defeat him. If He'd already compromised, why bother suffering at the cross?"

I love that one. With typical Christian blindness he overlooks the idea that he could have broke while "suffering at the cross". I bet a lot of the other criminals and rabble rousers of the time did. I forgot though, i'm supposed to keep in mind that this Jesus character is magic. Blah blah blah. Yakity shmack!

Anyways my answer to your question would be similar to davies. There is no devil.

Oh but the devil is very real my friend. He is the one that gets you to question God and embrace homosexuality and other ungodly acts. He is the one that gets you to embrace sin and rebuke the teachings of Jesus Christ and the word of God. You ask what my intentions are. It is my intention as a christian to spread the word of God. To sinners hearing the word of God is like a child taking medicine. You may not want to take in but when you do it makes you all better. God bless you. This is the Caveman signing out and swinging his club in the name of Jesus. Oh Yeah!!!!

I know he would not be sitting at the right hand of the Father in heaven if he had infact made a bargain with satan.

You will never be sure, until it's too late.

The second death is non-existence, for death and hell and those not written in the book of life. This second death or lake of fire is like fat drippings that fall into the fire. Just a poof of smoke into non-existence.

Psa.37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

Satan tried to tempt Jesus early on. The fact that Christ performed miracles afterward is proof that Jesus rejected satan. He would not have had the power to perform them if God had not given the power to him. How do we know he performed the miracles? because his 1st followers would not have continued to follow a hoax. They would have quit preaching about him.
