Because you were in two accidents and still having pain and have high medical bills, your case is difficult to distinguish between each accident. You might want to see what each insurance carrier is willing to pay. Most likely they both will only pay a share of your total bills since you had 2 accidents. They will each want to only pay to get you back to where you were before each accident. 3 Times medical bills is not always the case. First, see what they are willing to offer first and then try to negociate 30-40% more. I would try to negociate each claim on your own and see how high they will go. Once you feel they are as high as they can get, can always get an atty later and see if they would GUARANTEE that after their fees are extracted (usually 30-40% including your medical bills) and the medical liens, if you can get more. But many times, insurance companies are willing to pay you directly as much as if you have an atty, but you will have to do the negociating yourself. Your case will be more difficult since you had two accidents, and neither insurance company will owe you all of the medical bills.
Make sure you know the statute of limitations to file a suit in your state. The claims adjuster will be able to tell you -and they are required to let you know as well. So just ask. You can always get an atty at anytime.

Most people don't realize this, but it's something to think about when coming up with an amount.
You will probably have to repay your medical insurance for any bills they paid on your behalf as a result of the accident. Make sure you get enough money in the settlement so that you have something left after paying the health insurance back.
Also, your lawyer will probably take about 40% of the total amount you win.

Medical bills times 3 plus all the hours of work you missed and any money you had to spend to get to and from the doctors. You need to catalog every penny. Now neck and back pain are different. Those injuries cannot be proven unless there is a bone fracture. You will need a specialists advice on what the future will bring you. Take these future PT bills and ask for them up front. It is like getting workman's compensation.

I was in a bad wreck, my neck was broken in two places, two ribs broken, took over 150n stitches to close the wound in my scalp. I was paralyzed temporarily, spent 2 1/2 months in a halo, 2 months in a Philadelphia collar, 1 1/2 months in a soft collar, had brain damage, and still have chronic pain issues 14 years later. All told, I got less than 6 figures. You damn well better have a shark attorney if all you want is money. Cash will never compensate the truly injured.

It's relative to your age, but I would think you'd be getting six-figures at least!
Sorry to hear about your bad luck :(
