As a proud and faithful soldier (unlike the commie who wrote the first answer), I believe any U.S. Serviceman who is guilty of such atrocious crimes should be punished to the fullest extent of the UCMJ, up to and including the death penalty.

How about letting the investigation be completed? So far there are only claims that this happened.

And if the investigation develops enough evidence to support a court-martial - then they get the same Constitutional protections as you would if you were accused of a crime.

If they are convicted - then their sentence should be decided by the military judge as per the UCMJ and the MCM.

I give our troops the benefit of the doubt and the presumption of innocense until proven guilty in a court of law as prescribed by the constitution they were fighting to uphold. other than that I am not going to speculate on what did or did not happen. I will only say that whether in war or not the crimes of both murder and rape should receive the maximum penalty.

That was heinous and disgusting. They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Their actions did so much to put their fellow soldiers in danger. There is no excuse. There is no doubt as to what their punishment should be.

They are sociopaths, no doubt about it, should the evidence prove them guilty.

I don't understand how that's ever right as the previous post voices... I think they need to be punished harshly as they are there representing the military and the States. There were other ways to get off. 8-|

You people ever been in combat??? How do you think you would react if a bunch of Iraqis kidnapped and beheaded two of your comrades??? It certainly wasn't right by any stretch of the imagination, but (at least) for those of us who have been in similar situations, it's certainly understandable!

If the evidence proves them guilty, then they should receive the harshest sentence allowable. But, they are not guilty until PROVEN to be so.
