I have no idea. I guess that makes sense.
The only thing that causes me to question it is the parable Jesus tells of the rich man and Lazarus. The are both conscious, but in different sections of the hadean world.
I also don't know if there is time in hades. Sometimes we speak of eternity as a really long time, but actually eternity is the absence of time. I have no idea what that is like in practical terms. I don't know if time is merely an earthly constraint or if there is time in hades, so even if I did know whether they are unconscious as you suggest or conscious as the parable suggests, I don't know if they have any sense of time or not.
So that's my grand answer: I don't know. :o(

Hi,
i see it this way : all of us will die one day, and either be buried or cremated or missing or any which way. That body is gone forever. That is the way of nature, and everything physical.
The bible states every eye will see God, this means either now , if we have the eye,or after physical death , for those souls who have not had the opportunity.
To make a long story short, and not wanting to possibly bore you with many bible texts, ressurection means the awakening of a spiritual being out of a spiritual grave, ( inactive soul ),
The bible states clearly that God is a spirit, and we are made in his image, also spirit .
Pse read Ephesians 2 v 1-22 - a very interesting spiritual truth, like the rest of the bible.

No, death can't be like that, because if your in haven and having a good time and everything, they can;t just be pulled out of there and wake up!! the reason it's like that in surgory is because of the sleeping stuff(anostisha)it lasts for a long time, and when you wake up you forget what you were doing and where you were.

"The departed spirit of a believer in Christ goes immediately into the presence of the Lord...When an unbeliever dies, his or her departed spirit goes immediately into Hades to experience conscious, unrelenting torment. There is no in-between place. There is no third choice." Mark Hitchcock

2co 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
When we die we go to where God is spiritually and conscience wise, our body sleeps.

It makes sense to me, but what about the thief on the cross? Did Jesus mean , today as in right now...or today as in "this day" he was accepted?

many believe it will be like that. your earthly body is returned to the earth as it was risen from it. your spirit is the actual body that will become whole again.
