If you've become inactive after being used to moving around, it can be a shift in metabolism that's causing the problem. Put yourself into an exercise program of some sort, even if it's nothing more than walking. Exercise is one of the biggest factors in weight gain or loss.

I agree with the terms and advice that you receive lately. Your metabolism is slower and I think it's that you do not eat normally. Your body needs fat (cells) to gain energy and to feed your cells, when you said you do not eat much that means you're taking a hard diet? Please don't do that you're making it worse. Eat what you like and what you should and do some sport activities. Eat what your mother is cooking (mommy knows the best for you). Don't forget to add fresh fruit and vegetables. Potatoes are good for the metabolism. Diets are not so good for the body as you believe. Live your life, eat as a normal person ( 2-3 times a day), make sport, sweets you can avoid them but not always, respect the triangular or meals (you know). And you are exaggerating when you saying "a lot of weight", I can see that you are a woman that is paying too much attention to it's weight. If you want hear more about losing weight than ask a trainer. You will be surprised how much eats a person who is doing exercise every day.

well.. it could be that your metabolism slowed down a lot.. are you just starting college? at about 19 to 23 a lot of people have a huge weight gain. Have you become less active? if so, then that may be it also. But if you have been very lethargic and there hasnt been much change in your diet or your daily routine.. u should probably see a doctor if the weight gain is significant

First of all not eating or eating very little slows the metabolism down to allow the body to maintain it calories. Your doing good on not eating many sweets. If you are dealing with some fatigue, dry skin and brittle hair you may want to get a thyroid check via a blood test. Other than that try to increase your activity level and eat more throughout the day.

Are you going through puberty? Sometimes rapid weight gain occurs at that time, otherwise. increase your activity and eat better and regularly. More fruits and veggies, lots of water.Good luck. There wasn't much information given, but I hope this helped.

Well, it could be because your not eating enough. If that's the case, try to eat 5-6 small meals a day. If that doesn't work, go to your doctor there may be other problems you don't know about.

Whenever you skip meals it usually results in weight gain because when you finally do eat you tend to overeat. You could just have slow metabolism.

There's many reasons this could happen, and having a thyroid imbalance is a common one. The only real way to know is to see a doctor, making sure you tell him/her all of your symptoms, and include what you typically eat every day.

According to George Washington University, people who skip meals, especially breakfast, are more likely to overeat later in the day. That's because when you skip meals, you upset your body's natural cycle of sleep, wakefulness and hunger.
