i was thinkin how freakin gross and wierd it must be if girls didn't have tampons/pads...what else could they have used?....

Well my mom was born in 1943, she started her period when she was 12...so in 1955 she said there were pads and tampons available....she says she doesn't know what women used before that but she guessed that maybe they tore up old sheets or pillowcases and used those because they would be washable maybe....or maybe they used the same material they use for cloth diapers..or made some out of cotton.....

I think they used like cloth-pads, you know? rags and stuff. I think in the middle east though, women have(/had I don't know if they still do this) a room of the house that was just for that time of the month- and periods were looked on as un-holy. Go figure, eh?

i know the answer i have a book on it and it says since tampons and pads weren't created until the 1920s' women and girls used nothing' i know how gross.

I read somewhere a few years back that the Egyptians would take strips of clothe that they would rollup and use that. Ugh, gross.
