Using only one cat at a time...say they name followed my a quick noise like a click with your tounge or a short whisle, and then when they look at you give them a treat and they will come to you. Do this a couple of times ( give each kitten a different noise, cats respond to noises rather that words) then put them in a group and say one of the kittens name followed by there noise and if they come give them a treat, if they dont try the calling in isolation again until it works (it may take a couple of time) good luck!!

I don't care what anyone thinks. Cats definitely can and do learn their names. My boy cat Charlie comes very quickly if I call his name. The other three girl cats come when their names are called, but they take their time.
Be consistant with their names, don't change them. And talk to them often, using their names often. Eventually they'll catch on and associate themself with the name you've chosen for them.

Cats do not hear words like we do. They hear sounds. My former kitten, now fat cat, Putter would not answer his name at first. But, by pronouncing the "P" in Putter in a bolder, louder way, he got use of the letter pronunciation of the P. Hence, he now answers to Putter, Putter Putt, Putterski, and of course, Putz. Just be patient and put the stress sound at the beginning of your kittens name. It will take time, but they will get used to it

Every time you touch or cuddle them, call them by name. Also, always be gentle with them. If they want down, let them go. If coming to you means being trapped, they won't do it. Another tip is treats when they come to you when you call. Cats are just as trainable as dogs. I have 4 cats. They come when called, sit, lay down, beg, dance and roll over. One is even "show trick" trained. He does highwire walks and ring jumps. It's all about patience, love and food.

Positive reinforcement and loving attention.
I have multiple cats, 2 older and one kitten. With kittens you speak their name to them softly and repeatedly while gently rubbing their heads and face -- they then relate to this behavior and sound as if you are their mom and you love them.
Also reinforce good behaviour by saying their name i.e. "good Mia".
We also name our cats in sounds that are pleasing to them. "s", "p", "m", "e", "a" are good letters to incorporate into a kitten's name. Our Cats are Jacques, Marie (pronounce: Maah-reee) and Mia (Pronounced Meee-Ahh). It is important to have names that are distinctly different when you have miltiple cats or the babies will be confused as to which name is theirs.

You can call a cat anything you want.... they only pay attention when they want.
Try playing with them, one at a time, and saying their name ... takes about as long as it does little humans.
