Most of the things that bring real satisfaction are free, or inexpensive enough to be earned. Are you waiting for the lottery before you decide to spend the ony resource that matters - your time - on something that will bring you real happiness?

Yes, the money WOULD help. To say it wouldn't would be denial. In the perfeccccct world, it wouldn't matter, but in our society it does. You can only speak idealistically to a point, and then you realize you're just flapping your jaw.

Right now I'm an unemployed teacher who's off for summer, who works for the Federal Gov for about $12hr. I own my own home, paid for, and have a 10 year old Pontiac. I have two rescued dogs, a cockateil, and some fish. I'm having major surgery in the morning that's paid for by my insurance, which I had to extend (COBRA) for summer at the rate of almost $400 per month. My unemployment check is $800 per month. If I take a summer job, my school doesn't hire me back, so it's a catch 22. When I do work, I work 40 hours a week, 8-4:30. My husband works Walmart Sporting Goods 1-midnight. I have Sat-Sun off, and he has Mon-Tues off. My daughter, an RN, works 4 12 hour shifts which include the weekends, and my son races motorcycles on the weekends professionally. Would the lottery help me? Ummm, yeah. I'd email my boss and quit, hire a financial advisor, buy a chunk of property and have a nice earthy home built with everything I need for the rest of my life, have my husband retire, send him to Alaska to fish with his son, buy a second home in Huntington Beach for us and our kids to enjoy, rescue more dogs, travel the world, focus on my art (I'm an artist with no time to paint), do murals on commission, etc.

The lottery would be good...

I would fix up all the ran down houses for people who cannot afford home improvements. Id make a program for kids who have parents that work 2-3 jobs that cannot spend time with their children but are concerned that parental skills are not being given to them while their away. I wouldnt just sit on my money. It would be a blessing to have that and I would share my money with everyone.

I wouldn't keep it. I would give the winning ticket to my ex-boyfriend who is still my friend because he always works so hard and never has a vacation and I know that he'd use the money responsibly. If I kept it, I'd have to share the money with my family and I know some of them would just waste it!
