Why are there so many people who do not believe in God?

1. they havent YET felt the greatest desperation/problem in their life.... i mean they will only believe in God if they are in deep despair.. like there is no one they can cling on to, and when that happens, they will now bow their heads to God.

2. they havent felt the miracles/blessings God gave... i mean.. they doesnt felt that great miracle that have changed their lives ..

3. they are so smart that they made themselves god

4. they acquired their disbeliefs from their family

5. they are very happy being themselves that they dont actually need God.

6. They crazilly soaked their minds to science

7. they just thought being satanist/paganist/atheist/ungodly is cool

and finally..

they are just born L.O.S.E.R.S !!!!

I have thought long and hard on what the problems of society are and I have come to the conclusion that our main problems are ignorance and stupidity. I am as guilty as anyone and we are all ignorant about something. Laziness come into play also, we could look up our own answers or study a few books, but we don't. I used to know a young man who was a radio announcer at a local christian station. He was well educated, a college grad and spoke two languages. He came to my house one day after I just had new wall-to-wall carpet installed. I had a small door mat just inside to door to wipe our feet on. This young man leaned down picked up the doormat and proceeded to wipe his feet thoroughly on my new wall to wall. Then he grinned triumphantly as if he had done the proper thing and replaced the doormat. In other words some people do not have any common sense. It doesn't matter whether they are educated or not. The Bible tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. To me the Bible is a living Book it has survived a long long time. Every time I read the Bible I see something I didn't see before because on that particular day that verse stood out to me. It is as fresh today as it was when it was first written.

Because they have no need for God. They have everything and don't need God until something bad happens, When 911 happened the churches were full for about two weeks. The devils believe that there is a God. James 2: 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. Even fewer people believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for their sins and that is sad because all that reject what He did on the cross for them will go to hell. John 3: 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

For the same reason that so many do believe in God! Both are equally foolish. I know that there is a God and do not need to believe it. Belief of something bespeaks some doubt (lack of certainty). Find proof (as I have) and you too will believe no more!

My personal reason is that I have never found evidence that there is one, and refuse to devote my life to what appears to be a lie. I see Christianity in the same way modern people see Greek religion, as being mythology and, although interesting, completely wrong. Ancient Greeks believed just as strongly that they were right as do the modern religious, and yet most people accept that the religion of the ancient Greeks was complete bull. Everyone is an atheist in reference to the Greek gods, I am simply an atheist in reference to the Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and all other gods. Simple isn't it?

There are an estimated 100,000 different religious belief systems and their denominations being practiced on planet Earth today.

Many of them do not believe in the Christian idea of God, which is what I am assuming you mean in your question... but favor another god, or gods, or other higher beings, or planes of existence.

And they hold their beliefs as sacred as you might hold yours.

So in answer to your question, think how you would answer your question if someone of another faith asked you why you don't believe as he/she does.

Throughout history humans have created gods from their imagination. Gods which they could control and manipulate. They were finite and were very similar to humans. The beliefs people have and how people interpret reality because of these beleifs prevent people from knowing the one true God. Their beliefs make them narrow minded, although there are many parts of the world that are yet to have the word of God given to them. So i suppose it is historical. After the tower of babel they all went about their seperate ways and most of them made their own Gods. The one true God was forgotten about.

ignorance. Also people are so busy with their lives that they forget/can't be bothered to look for answers. Another reason that makes people not believe in god is religious people. a lot of them are hypocrites, some of the worst crimes in history were committed by 'believers in god'. Even in yahoo answers you will find some of the nastiest people to be 'believers'. That puts a lot of people off religion and god altogether. It is also easier not to believe in god, you can do whatever you like without feeling guilty.

why are there so many people who don't believe in the tooth fairy? that's just the way it is. many people don't believe something is real until they can see or touch it.

if i told you there was a mountain of money right behind you. would you believe me without having to turn around to see it? in the case of religion i am not only telling you there is a mountain of money but what you have to do to get a peace of it. and all the while you can't turn around to see if it's true.

by the way look at all the bad things that happen in life. it makes it a little hard to believe that someone so caring would allow it to happen.

Because There is no Such thing as God. It is only our Creation. But a Very good creation. Since It provides a chance for escapism and provides mental satisfaction and solace for troubled people. It also provides the politicians a cause to exite lower level people for fighting, wars, violence etc. Even today people are fighting for Christian God and Islamic God etc.
