A lame attempt to sound more impressive? Or because the actual ingredients don't contain anything that's even seen a picture of a cow in a book, let alone got any actual beef in it - "steak" could theoretically mean any meat I suppose (?) Mmmm, the bits out of the butcher's broom...

Are you sure they actually changed it and it's not just a complete other flavour? Well if so then maybe the ingredient is beef steak and they just decided that steak sounded better. Possibly what Cosmo said that beef suggests there is actually beef in them whereas steak could be beef steak or cat steak or whatever. Maybe something to do wit hthe advertising laws.

maybe stake sounds nicer than beef.or maybe they think they will sell more crisps by changing the name
