Your dog may be having trouble digesting the food you're feeding him/her. I would check with your vet to make sure the dog isn't ill, and ask the vet to recommend a good quality dog food that the dog will be able to digest.

stop feeding tinned food & get a good quality dry food for your dog. My dalmatian stinks if i feed him meat but he is much better on James Wellbeloved, it is simply a case of trial & error with different food to see what suits your dogs diet! If you go for the dry food option, be careful as a lot have loads of E numbers in which can cause hyperactive dogs (did with my dog anyway!) so choose one that is a better quality & probably more expensive brand. The advantage of the better quality brands is that because the protein is better quality you can feed less for the dog to absorb the same amount of nutrients therefore they poo less, fart less & it works out cheaper to feed.

Dogs pass gas, just like human, cows, horses, apes, etc. It is diet related. Changing foods and/or adding digestive enzymes to the food will help. Look for high quality foods, Science Diet, Iams, Pro Plan - there are lots of good ones. You can seek your vet's advice on a good one.

However, lots of gas with diarrhea and/or vomiting can be a symptom of internal parasites. Which can be deadly.

Try to watch what you feed the dog as you're giving it too much protein..
My dog used to fart all of the time, but now i've changed her diet she's a lot better, even though i can tell she's not pleased, because when she gets back from work she always asks me to "make her egg sarnies tomorrow!"

You may want to talk to your vet about changing his diet. While dogs fart just as much as humans do, certain foods can increase this as will as making the odor more foul. Stop giving him human foods in the meantime and switch to a dry food if you are using canned.

My boxer did the same thing. A friend who could no longer take care of him gave him to us, along with a huge bag of food. I'm not going to say the brand name, but it wasnt what our dogs ate. I put him on Purina One salmon (it has pink on the bag, says "salmon") and not only did he STOP farting, but he also stopped his constant SCRATCHING!
And I give him carrots for treats, that really cleans out the ol' poop chute.

I read somewhere that giving dogs dairy products is linked to the amount of gas they produce. So the quick and easy way to reduce this problem is to feed your dog a dry complete food only and minimise treats.

Yes! I have two boxers and they are the smelliest breed of dog I have ever had. They fart alot and it does smell very bad. I have heard they are known to be smelly.

Its very common with Boxers, they should list it as a breed fault! There's a dog food you can get with Yucca extract, it will help with the odour at least...
