There are lots of methods...but easy ways include:
Don't drink for a week or two? If you say you can stop anytime but don't think it is necessary....then you may have a problem.
If you drink everyday...to relax. You may be.
If anyone ever tells you that you drink too much. You may be.
Just go to the alcoholics anonymous sites....
Remember someone who isn't an alcoholic doesn't think about alcohol. They may drink on occasion. They may drink alot once in a blue moon ( twice a year or something). But alcohol isn't a focus in their lives.
Whether it is a problem for you is another question. You can be alcohol dependent and it not mess up your life. You can drink several times a week and not have a problem. Once you see your friends change, or people finding reasons not to be around you. Or you find yourself in a bad mood ALOT. You have a problem.
Just remember alcoholism is a disease over time. It starts out as a binger or a casual drink and it gets out of hand. Obese people aren't born that way. Neither are alcoholics.
If you are getting to the alcoholic stage....pick a healthier method of dealing with life. Do it before you can't. Alcohol isn't bad...but once you are addicted it will suck the life from you. It isn't easy...but it is better to deal with it when you are young. When you are older it is painful and you have no one to support you through it.
