I pay cash or money orders for my monthly bills, and wanted to know what the break even point was instead of bouncing checks. I figure two checks a year at a total of $120 covers most of my expenses.

Instead of checks, I use money orders or cash - just trying to find out at what point I am actually "saving" money instead of bouncing checks. It generally costs less than $10.00 a month for me to do it my way and I want a comparison with bounced checks.

I've got an even cheaper way. You obviously have a computer so open a checking account with free "on-line bill payment". Then pay the bills from the on-line account which won't let you write a check which the account can't cover (therefore you never get a bounced check charge).

It's cheaper because you don't have to pay for the stamps and envelopes that you mail your checks with, the bank mails it for you. What a deal!

If you have the $$ to buy money orders, why are you bouncing checks? If you use your check register and subtract every amount you write a check for you won't bounce checks. Bouncing checks gets very expensive, but money orders are more costly than checks.

I don't bounce many because I (like you) try to avoid them. I pay with my debit card directly linked to my account and it clears faster. My other bills are paid on-line to save the postage and running to the post office. I don't spend what I don't have. Only our rent is paid by check.

I don't understand yourquestion why would you want to bounce checks. It is illegal to do so that is why there are fines to it. IT is called fraud if you write a check you do not have the funds for...

this question is itself is irrelevant, as the cheque which is bounced attract heavy penalty and you will be put in the defaulted black list for ever, losing your reputation and standing in the country.
