My husband and I bought our first home in this really nice neighborhood a year ago. After living here about 2 months, we realized there was a rental house down the street where this crazy woman, her husband, and 3 children live. The lady has serious problems. She screams obsceneties at her children, and if you even look her way then she's screaming at you. We're pretty sure they are selling drugs because of the traffic pit stops in front of the house all the time and we've seen both the man and woman staggering around the neighborhood. Then one day they moved-in the house directly across the street from us. Now I can't even bring my kids out front with her cursing and screaming, it scares them. I've tried talking to the landlord(slumlord) and she won't do anything. We own our home and have worked hard for it. I don't want them to run me out of my home, I want THEM to leave and so do all of the other neighbors. We're all fed up. Is there any way to legally get them to move?

I think you should really consider trying to move...once renters start coming...property values start dropping...sorry...it sucks!

Be careful most of the suggestions could and will backfire on YOU! You make to many reports and they will start ignoring you or label you a trouble maker. If you report things you can't Prove in court [not just think or guess] She could end up suing You! [ I have a police scanner] Your best bet is get out while your house still has some value. Don't tell a lot of people about your neighbors [slander] unfortunately the law is not on your side!

You can't legally make them move, but you can report them to the police. If they are caught dealing drugs, then they could end up in prison, which would have the same effect as having them move away. Even if they're not, the police could help get them to stop the cursing and screaming.

All you really can do is call the police if you are threatened. Other than that, she has a legal right to be there.
I know this spoiled your idea of the neighborhood you had hoped for but honestly, with the lower class being pushed out of the major cities and many other areas, we are going to have to get used to more and more of this.

anonymous letters to your local code enforcement office, local police dept, etc. with specifics (not allegations) will create a file of interest to local authorities.
send copies to your local politicians. annotate local politicos names at the bottom of the letters you send out. that way, everyone who should know, will know the letter is not a prank.
sit back and watch the magic.....it may take months, but if there is any illegal activity taking place, you'll see the show. Patience, friend...this works!

Call CPS for the lady cursing at her kids.
Make anonymous calls to the police on drug suspicion. Just a few ideas.
I would make their life a living Hell until they are forced to move. i wouldn't play fair either.

Call the police about suspicion of drug selling. Once they realize they are being watched by the police they will be caught or will move to avoid being caught.

You can keep calling the cops for disruption. Or maybe talk to your neighborhood assocation to see if they have an ordiances they are breaking or if anyone else is fed up?

I think that there is a way you can. You might have to do some research, but I think that if you get enough neighbors to get a petition going, you can do it.

If you know (repeat KNOW) they are selling drugs, report them to the police. They won't be there much longer.

I don't think so, but you and your husband could contact a lawyer and ask him or her about any laws concerning this situation.
