It is a '96 850 Turbo with the premium sound system that has CD, tape, and radio. The radio won't do anything now. The battery died on me right before this happened. I really hope there is a way to fix this myself. or a cheap way. THANKS

Every time a battery is disconected, you have to know the code to enter it into the radio again to make it work.If you have thepaperwork for your radio in the glove compartment,or any owners manuals, try looking through them and you might find it in there.if not you can try your volvo dealer and they may have a series of codes to help you out(providing it is the original radio)or try contacting the previous owner, they may have it written down somewhere.-good luck.

This is an anti-theft device. When thieves steal the radio and cut power to it then it renders it useless.

It is the security code that you need to put in. It should either be in your owners manual or on some type of card that was with the car when you purchased it. Follow what the owners manual says. If you do not have the code then take the car to a Volvo dealer and they can fix it for you. Probably for free.

Go to your Volvo service department, they can reprogram the lock out mode in a matter of minutes.

It is an anti theft device so if the radio is stolen it will not work in other cars, in turn lowering the chances a Volvo will be broken into. Most high line cars are this way.

Lexus is strict enough that if you attempt to break into the car 3 times and set the alarm off 3 times, the car goes into lock down mode. Not even the drivers key will work anymore. The car must be taken to a Lexus dealership and linked to Japan to be unlocked from master codes.

Sounds like alot but do you ever hear of a Lexus being stolen?

I have the same car. Pull out your radio and look on the back for the code, that is what I do

go to a dealer and have them reset it for you - it is a security thing. The original owner must not have left the 'code' in the car
