We all know it's not nearly on the level of a soccer or football, but could be compared to darts and bowling.

I consider it a recreation when we see it at the olympics its a sport, they have only just recognised darts as a sport so we should see that in the next olympics, instead of the national anthem they will have various pub chants. It will be the first olympic sport sponsered by carlsberg, ginsters and benson & hedges

Billion dollar industry with millions in prize money puts it out of the darts and bowling league. If you've never played, go try it in 100 degree weather or a rain storm and it quickly becomes a sport.

I don't consider golf a true sport however it is by text book definition. It is competitive and is acomplished using physical atributes. Regardless, I personally consider it recreation.

Its both, as many people play in their leisure time to unwind ,
while the rest compete in the major golf tournaments

i think that its a sport. so is dancing, cheerleading, bowling, and ice skating, and all that other stuff that some people think is not a sport. they all require practice, and team work. they are very hard!

for sure it should be considered a sport although it may not take athletic ability it takes mental thoughness and the ability to stay concentrated
