Although the Quran include many verses that encourage Muslims to love and obey their parents, I found out that this is only valid in case their parents were MUSLIMS ONLY. I found a verse [tawba 9:23] that orders Muslims not to give any protection for their fathers or brothers in case they love infidelity above Faith. It also threatens any Muslim who try to protect his infidel father by being accounted as infidel himself.

Do you see this verse FAIR or human? I think that giving protection for my father and my brothers should be a part of being a human. Even if they don't believe in what I believe in I still should give them respect and protect them. Does anyone agree with me?

I hope that people who AUTOMATICALLY tell me that Islam never encourage Muslims to HATE anyone, please read the verse and all its commentaries (Ibn Katheer, Tabari...etc) first.

Also, please read a little in Islamic history and how prophet Muhammed encouraged Muslims to kill all infidels during wars, even their own fathers.

Islam says some thing totally different.in the Koran theree is this verse that says you should respect your parents WHETHER THEY ARE MUSLIM OR NOT but do not Oby them if they tell you to leave your religion and that is the only thing Muslims are allowed to not obey ther parents in(leaving faith)
there were even ppl in the beginning of Islam that converted to the religion because their children that had converted became much kinder to them(amar yaser)

A Muslim must obey his/her parents whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims. A Muslim would obey them so long they don't order to do anything against Islamic rules. Even if they say to do something like that, the Muslim should be patient & try to make them understand.

Listen bro, Islam was not born yesterday. And Islam is not a toy of children. Even a regular Muslim is not supposed to make rules out of Qur'an. It needs vast knowledge in Qur'an, Sunnah & prophet Muhammad's life. To attain that knowledge, one must learn perfect Arabic. As we regular Muslims don't have that deep
skill & knowledge, we totally depend on our religious scholars who are expert on this, may Allah bless them, as with the help of their vast knowledge & strong logic we Muslims face our problems.

In your case,

1. You are refering one or two verses out of whole 6236 verses.
2. You don't know anything about Arabic.
3. You are not a Muslim
4. You don't know 10,000 or more hadiths.
5. You are not scholar of translating.
6. You don't know the whole biography of prophet Muhammad.
7. You don't know how Islamic rulings evolve step by step.
8. You didn't memorize Qur'an.
9. You don't know the existing Islamic rulings, their base & their applications.

So your claim is perfectly invalid. There is no need to be afraid of the rulings you made up. If you want to know about Islamic rulingds I suggest you to visit http://islamqa.com

God bless.

What language did you read this in? Do you speak Aribic? Are you sure you read it correctly? Could something have been lost in trasnlation? Maybe you don't understand how to read the book. And para-phrasing the verse doen't help your case any, it just proves that you don't understand the other relgions. Are Christans raised to hate gays and unmarried pregnant teens? Do all Muslims hate america? NO! relgions do not teach hate. they teach FAITH.

ISLAM DOES NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO HATE THEIR PARENTS. I am Muslim. The Quran tells Muslims over and over again to HONOR, FORGIVE, and RESPECT their parents....I believe God tells us to DISOBEY OUR PARENTS IF THEY TELL US TO COMMIT CRIMES & SINS...We are commanded to do the right thing as Muslims, even if it means turning in our parents.....As far as not protecting parents who love infidelity (sin) above faith---that is good advise. Muslims must stand for justice at all times. But even then, Allah tells us, "Even if you have to turn away from your parents, speak a word of eay kindness"

This is totally non sense, I'm a muslim and i know my religion. Islam orders people to obey and pay respect to their parents(not only father) whatever they believe in, whatever they do to them.

ISlam does not teach hatred. that is a very storng word. if parents are non-believers we continue to respect and obey them unless they order us to do something that is aginst the will of allah, shariah and sunnah...ref surah luqman. the prophet(saw) taught us to take care of them in their worldly affairs even if they donot belive. because our goodness could be a source that could bring them to the deen. the ruling of not giving them protection applies int he situation of jihad when they choose to be on teh oppositions side and fight agianst us. then obviously that battle is not between father and son but between kufr and haq, so we stay on the side we are with. abubakr faught his blood relations in one battle beacsue it was a question of iman verses disbelief, we dont fight an individual we fight kufr, and if they choose to fight for kufr then obviously on the battlefield we would be against them. othe r than the battlefield, we are supposritve and respectful towards them

Islam does not teach to hate their fathers if they are not muslims. Even if they are not muslims, you should still respect them. Not respecting your parents is a big sin.

no got it wrong .. a muslims is bound to love and respect his parents even though they r non mulims .. but the child should not obey their parents if they ask him to worship sum1 else ... that the thing ..or to do sumthing against islam .... otherwise he should respect and obey everything they say ...( if its in limit of islam )
Islam is a peace loving religion ..it would never ask sum1 to leave his parents alone

Islam doesn't teach people to hate their fathers, Christianity does:
" if any man come to me , and not hate his father ,and mother, and wife, and children ,and brethren, and sister ,yet and his own life also,he cannot be my disciple " {Luke 14:26}

I think I won't have any place in my heart to love any one ,if I filled it with hatred for all those people...!
