My dog has been sneezing ALOT, his nose almost drips clear fluid when he gets up, his breathing through his nose sounds a little squeeky, and instead of sniffinling, he more blows out of his nose, maybe to clear it. Can dogs have cold and/or allergies? Is it something to take him to the vet about?

Sounds to me more line the dog sniffed some thing up his nose, like a foxtail. The vet can remove it .If you are unable for some reason to see the vet,You might try putting an eye dropper full of mineral oil into each nostril.Tilt his head back for a few moments.Repeat AM and PM for a couple day .Look for reliefGood Luck

Persons who are allergic to dogs have a problem with dog dander. Dander is not the same as dandruff. Dander is present on the skin and in the coat but also in the saliva and at least sometimes in the urine of dogs. Allergic persons were recently blindfolded tested by being exposed to a variety of dogs, one at a time (one a day). Some of the dogs were low dander producers and some were high or normal dander producers. The allergic people suffered equally badly around ALL the dogs. There are NO breeds that are good for people with allergies to dander. So, I'm sorry but your dog would give your brother and sister major problems, no matter what kind it was. They *might* be able to tolerate being around a dog IF they get frequent, painful, allergy shots but there is no guarantee that it will work. I guess you will probably have to settle for having a dog only at your dad's place.

Yes - my chocolate lab had a yeast infection in his floppy ears - from allergies. My dog (growing up) was a carrier for strep, passing it around my 6 member family 4 times. Dogs can and do get human ailments. He should get over it on his own, but sometimes it affects their appetites so if that happens, or the dog seems to be really bothered, the vet can prescribe something to help.

Dogs can have cold, allergies, and hay fever. If it is persistent I would see or at least call a vet. Because of the physiology of the dog, they can tolerate some of the same allergy medications that humans can, but it would be best to get the advice of a vet as to which one would be best.

They absolutely can get sick and get allergies. In fact, dogs are susceptible to catching colds from their humans. When my dog has allergies, he starts to sneeze and chews on his paws. I know that it's then time to break out the Benadryl. I give him 50mg twice a day.. once in the morning and once at dinner time. If you suspect this might be an actual cold virus, however (runny nose, discharge at eyes, etc) then get him to the vet! And keep him/her hydrated.

Yes. Dogs can have colds, allergies, or asthma. If your dog continues you should definitely take him to see the vet. It is probably something very minor at this point, but the longer you let it go the bigger problem it can be to treat.

You may want to check with your vet, it could be kennel cough. It is very treatable, not to worry!
