onion powder or fresh minced garlic. If using fresh increase the amount by one half because the dried and condensed powder has more of a kick than the fresh.

I'm guessing you dont have any real garlic. You can use garlic salt instead of garlic powder, but be careful not to add too much because it is very salty. If you don't have real garlic, or garlic salt, you could try onion powder, or diced onion, or even fresh ginger.
I guess it gepends on what you are making. If you are making garlic bread I wouldn't suggest ginger, but onion powder might be alright.
