The Dutch language, or Flemish, which is a kind of language which looks a little bit like German but very bizarre!! I speak german but dont understand Dutch. People in Amsterdam and Holland understand several languages, English of course, but also German, and French.

In Amsterdam, people Speak Dutch! You would say "In Amsterdam, they speak English besides Dutch" and not "In Amsterdam, they speak Dutch besides English" as Dutch is their first language.

"Amsterdam" is the capital.
"The Netherlands" is the country. You also often say "Holland".
People are "Dutch".
People speak "Dutch".

I'm just correcting what orchid97rose said :
It's "Kan je Nederlands spreken?" or "Kan je Nederlands praten?" which means "do you speak Dutch?"
