Everytime I turn on my computer, Window Media Player popped up on my screen and I always have to close it because I don't use it. What's the best way to get rid of it?

Well, I don't think that's entirely possible. Microsoft claims that Windows Media Player cannot be completely removed because it's a feature of the operating system. If it's just the automatic launch that's annoying you, have a look in the Startup folder and delete the Windows Media Player shortcut icon:

Relative path: Start > All Programs > Startup

Absolute path: My Computer > C: Drive > Documents and Settings > User > Start Menu > Programs > Startup

First off, check the settings and tell it NOT to open when Windows open. If you just want to get rid of it, go to your Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs, and find Windows Media Player. That will get it off your computer once and for all.

You got a startup menu problem.

I would advise you to take it to the professionals but in case you want to try it yourself you could do these 2 things.

1) got to START>STARTUP (if you are using XP then it would be START>ALL PROGRAMS>STARTUP)

See if you find windows media player ther. Right click on it & click "delete" & upon confirmation click "yes" If you don't then you have a registry entry that you need to delete.

This is not advised if you don't know what you are doing so don't do it.

The only way to get rid of it is to go to your control panel(you will see it when you press the start button), then click the add or remove icon, then find windows media player and click delete. That's all it is to it.

From your start menu, click on "my computer", then "add or remove programs" then when the list of your programs pops up scroll down until you see Windows Media Player, then click on the remove button.

well, you dont really want to get rid of the windows media player, its nesesary, but you can go to the setting of the windows media player, or go to scheduled tasks and see if theres something u can do to erase it, i think its probably just a schedyled task, so go to control panel and look it up.

Go to your control panel...

Run add/remove programs...

select <> tab
It should be on the left side for winXP or on the top (win98)

select accessories and uncheck windows media player...

press next and finish...

OR

Uninstall it from the add/remove programs list.
