I have twin boys and their first birthday is two months away. I am trying to get ideas on what I should do for their party. These are my only two children so I am new at this sort of thing. I would greatly appreaciate any ideas on themes for twins, where to have the party, what types of food, and maybe gaming ideas. Thanks for your answers.

They were born at 26 weeks so they have a good deal of catching up to do before they are where they need to be developmentally. They just have learned to sit up by themselves... and one of them is just now beginning to crawl. I would love to think that they would be walking by their first birthday but I really don't know at this point.

I know that my boys won't be able to play any games but I have neices and nephews that will be able to. I look forward to everyone's creativity. thanks again.

Although your baby is not likely to remember anything about her first birthday, it’s still a milestone that adults like to commemorate, usually with a party. Follow these tips to keep the celebration simple so you don’t overwhelm your little one.
Keep the time in mind Schedule festivities to begin soon after your baby wakes from her morning or afternoon nap, and limit the party to one-and-a-half to two hours.
Downsize the cake Specialty cakes make for great photo ops, but cupcakes are the right size for small hands. Kids tend to prefer simple tastes, so stick with basic vanilla or chocolate (be sure guests don’t have chocolate or nut allergies, or plan accordingly).
Put on your game face The age-1 set is too young to play together, but they may enjoy these activities with some help from adults:
Bubble ring-around-the-rosie Have little ones and adults grab hands and form a circle. Grown-ups can lead the game, while a bubble maker (or willing adult) adds another dimension to ring-around-the-rosie. FYI, nix balloons at the party—deflated or popped, they’re a major choking hazard.
Musical peekaboo Place a box of toys on the floor. Play some children’s music and encourage babies and parents to explore the toys together, while moving to the beat.
Stuffed animal hide-and-seek Hide animals in a small area and help little ones find them (make sure you put them within reach of crawlers as well as walkers).
Keep gifts under wraps Don’t expect your baby to stay awake for gift opening. Save that for after the crowd leaves.
If you must open presents during the party, plan to do the unwrapping, oohing and ahhing on your baby’s behalf. (And don’t forget to write thank-you notes!)
Simplify the parting gifts Keep the gift bag uncomplicated: A finger puppet or an iced cookie related to the party’s
theme are favors small kids will appreciate.
Happy choosing and take care...

Since they are just turning one, I would keep the "party" fairly low key and have it at home. There will be alot of opportunities to have fun-filled parties at the children's gym, Chuckee Cheese, etc. down the road. As far as a theme, there are alot of cute paper goods that carry a "first birthday" theme, some of which are gender neutral. Especially on-line, you can buy everything from the cups to the decorations in a pattern that matches and that celebrates that very special first birthday. For my twin daughters, we would then go to a party goods store or shop on-line to pick your themed goods, and then build from there. We would then take a sample of the goods, like a napkin, to the baker and ask them to design a cake/cookie/cupcake that would "match." As far as games, at the young age of one, I think most children just want a little free time and games may be more than they can handle. I would keep the party relatively short because one-year olds quickly lose their focus for long drawn out affairs.
Relax and enjoy, they'll be grown before you know it!!

How odd.} There second was Nemo. there were pictures with Doris in them. the third was Elmo.and the fourth was the the toy story dolls woody and the girl?!? I have no Idea what her name is. But here are some ideas. Try characters that have two of them.

i think you should probably have animals for your party. if they have stuffed animals lay them all around, get a tiger birthday cake or animal birthday cake, get streamers that have animal colors, and a zoo pal plate with cups, candy, and little zoo snacks like animal crackers! pin the tale on the donkey, snatch the tiger by laying out a stuffed animal and give them numbers with two teams and you call that number and they have to snatch the tiger and run back to their team and with the most points win little candy prizes! believe i have ALOT of little cousins! i have to know this stuff!

make the theme their favorite color, not like barney or something. have each pic their own color and split it throughout the party
have matching games so its like matching twins
if its a hot day have water activities
for food, just get healthy things. but still have food that they really enjoy
make sure they haves fun! also keep them occupied
dont forget to have fun!
