Because reason and logic, taken to extremes, will always run into paradox. Believing that the human mind can reason its way into understanding all of reality is incredibly naive and arrogant, and is certainly a superstition--an inaccurate belief that gives us comfort.

Superstitons are an irrational belief that an object, action, or circumstance not logically related to a course of events influences its outcome. Reason is the capacity for logical, rational, and analytic thought; intelligence. If it is true, then intelligence would be a most naive irrational belief. This would mean that Intelligence is not to be believed in. The outcome of a course of events is not influenced by Intelligence. Quite amazing. Maybe he is refering to Destiny and how free will does not exist.
Reason is also the basis or motive for an action, decision, or conviction. If it is to follow the quote, then the motive for the action would be a naive supersition. Quantifying it as irrational and therefore unreasonable. Quite amazing.

i do like the 1st answer because it is true that there are people who think all things can be explained away with facts and logical thinking when at least half of everything we do is based on emotions and no thinking whatsoever
