I have a Kodak Easy Share. It's not the type you would want if you plan on getting into photography, but for a run-of-the-mill camera with good pictures and easy to use, this is your best bet. I have a CX7430 that I got about 2 years ago. Haven't had any problems with it, and the program that comes with the camera has been lots of fun to mess around with.
I got it from Dell for about $200. I'm sure it's cheaper by now, and I've even seen it at Target.
Also, you're going to want to get a memory stick (mine is 512MB), rechargeable batteries, and a dock for them. I think I got a rechargeable Energizer kit for about $10 at Wal-Mart.

I think it depends on what you want to do with it and what level of quality you require. If you are just going to be printing of 4x6 then you don't need the most megapixels available. If you are planning on blowing up the pictures that is where megapixels get important. Then you will want to look at the features of the camera. Do you want something with Image Stabilizing? Do you want a camera with a high optical zoom (since everyone knows digital zoom sucks)? Do you have a preference on what type of media the camera uses? Do you want a camera with a rechargeable battery pack? So I would suggest answering these questions first and then doing research. Once you have a set criteria you'll be able to figure out what type of camera you need and which ones you can afford.

I also love my Kodak digital, but I will go into a bit more detail. My camera is a Kodak CX7330, bought last year, for around $150 at wal-mart. The Easyshare software is great, and has lots of options, all of which are easy to use. The camera's internal memory is not really impressive, but my SanDisk 1.0 GB memory card provides more than enough. It runs about $80, which would keep you under your budget for both items. Happy shopping!

HP Photosmart. Get at least a 5 or 6 megapixil one. And they're less than $150 at Walmart. Nice pictures that you can make 8 x 10s from, if you put correct settings on it. (Read directions)
It does not go through batteries like other digital cameras I have owned. And with the use of its smart card or via internet, you can send pics to Walmart or other places and get pictures made. It's cheaper than buying paper and ink.
Hope this helps.

I love sony when it comes to digital cameras. I've had a Sony Cybershot for a couple of years now and it still works wonderfully. It's endured a lot of falls yet it's still working great. It has good quality pictures. And depending on the quality of the pictures you can store a whole of lot of picts. I got mines for 200 but that's like three years ago, I'm sure you can find the same kind of camera but better quality and a lot cheaper. Good luck!

Your best bet is to find a good used digital camera. You can check ebay for cybershot dsc-p150. It's a 7.2 megapixel with great speed and incredible shots. Better than getting a cheap new camera.

I like Casios and Kodak digitals. I have a Casio Elixm 7.2 which I love. Casio has great slim digitals at a lower Mega Pixel which would fit your price range and they are good.
