IM AN ATHEIST HERE TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT
I didn't become atheists because something bad happened to me
I became atheist as a result of education
I'm not sad because I dont believe in the after life.
It's comforting to know exactly what to expect. Death is like sleep without dreaming It's a total state of unconciousness. Everyone's death is equal.
My hopes haven't been built up so they can't come crashing down.
So, with that being said, I have nothing to lose
I dont need the threat of getting sent to hell just to be a good person. I'm better then that. I'll be a good person regardless
Why am I good? I dont like pain so, It's only logical to not inflict what I dont like on others. It's called sympathy.
How did this world come about? Not sure but that doesn't mean I'll believe anything. Evolution has more evidence then the invisible man in the sky floating around

autumnshades, why are you pretending to be an atheist? I'm simply stating why i'm atheist. If Christians didn't lie on atheist, I wouldn' be doing it

While I do understand where you're coming from and respect your beliefs, this seems kind of pointless because it's not a question. You're doing what we all get mad at for the Christians for-preaching.

I'm not a Christian but I do believe in a higher power. You make reasonable points which I'm sure many Christians error in assumption. As for evolution it is not a mutually exclusive concept in relation to a higher power. You could very easily become a deist as were many notable people throughout history. One of my questions for you is if you associate spirituality with Christianity? There are many nuanced positions out there which you could investigate. As far as atheists go you seem relatively functional and I commend you for that. One atheist that I respect tremendously is Nate Hentoff. I encourage you to do an internet search on him as he may encourage you to think about your atheism in expanding and beneficial ways. Finally I understand about the unconscious sleep comment. I believe no matter whether you go on to heaven, hell, purgatory, reincarnation, or nothing at all we will be very different after death than who we thought we were in this life. So in that sense after our ego has been eradicated it is in a sense like annihilation into nothingness. But also think of this if we only are made up of energy which is constantly being modulated to and from the universe, won't after we death our energy just assume into the various forms of the universe? This really brings new meaning to everything being one.

hi, I'm Ivanna, and I'm religious. I think it's o.k. that some people don't believe on God. After all, I live in a house full of atheists! And I don' t mean to be boorish at all. But what do you mean by this? Are you trying to accuse Christians or are you trying to state your opinion? ANYWAY, I really enjoyed listening to your bulletin. It's always refreshing to hear a new opinion. No one I know has ever looked at death that way. Thank you for sharing!

GOD'S name is always on the lips of atheists. Seems that that they argue all day and night to to refute his existence. I think that all atheists should step back and look at the world around US, NO WAY did we come from nothing. If atheists choose not to believe then why not just not believe why always try and prove why and how they don't? It is no joke why millions upon millions DO believe. He is real it only takes a leap of faith!

As a fellow atheist I commend you for consolidating some of the facts about us in an attempt to stem the flood of misinformation.
Sadly, for both of us, the faithful are able to carefully examine facts and then reject them completely when they don't fit into their narrow worldviews.
Nonetheless, thank you.

Sympathetic Atheists usually make for dull conversation. Be an unapologetic atheist. Much more fun to talk to

You mentioned sympathy, that is, concern for your brother (fellow human being). This is a form of love. All creatures respond to love. Of all the virtues, love is the greatest.
Why are you good? All of us were born with the ability to be good, or to do evil. Good cannot exist in a world without God. Yet God will allow evil to coexist along with good in this world. God does not encourage evil, instead he detests evil. Yet he allows each of us, each of his creations, to choose for himself which path to pursue.
Doers of evil will be punished. Doers of good will be rewarded.
Please try to remember, "It is the fool who says in his heart "There is no God."'

With such a lengthy question as yours, I would say you're trying to convince us that you are secure in your beliefs. I already know why most atheists are atheist. I used to be married to one. He lacked natural affection.

Still sounds like an atheist to me, "education" was the clincher.

God speaks to those who listen. Atheism is an official way to shut God out. I have seen God with my mind and heart. I will not try to push God on You. If You ask God, He will answer. Take your fingers out of your ears and listen.
