I am going to buy the Chinese Rosetta Stone Cd, but before I waste around 300 dollars, I need a little advice on how good it is.

It is pretty good, although it is kindof hard to learn. You can really get the pronunciation right with it, but I would recomend buying that plus a different course with worksheets and stuff because it just teaches you as if you were a child, by repeating things over and over. The Rosetta Stone teaches you everything you need to know, I just find that it is easier to have some worksheets that would test me on the different cases. I didn't really try that hard with it though, so you could probaly do pretty well with just the Rosetta stone program.

I've heard only good things. The only warnings--sometimes, in the early pictures it's hard to tell if the sentence means, for example, the boy is under the airplane or the airplane is over the boy.
The other thing I heard (supposedly from the company itself) that most people stop after the first CD and don't stick with it long enough.

I can't say exactly, because I don't have a full program. I can say I was dissatisfied with their advertising. I ordered three demo CDs, because their online ads led me to believe each CD contained sample programs dealing with a specific language. I was wrong; each demo contained a program or two dealing with ALL the languages they offer.

The demo CDs were free, but I would advise you to think twice about this program before getting into it. Instead of this, I might recommend something with more structure to it, like a language class at a community college, a language tape for your car, or even a private tutor who speaks the language you're looking for.
