it is a metal comb that you place in a heating device or on the stove. the trick is to figure out how much to allow it to cool b4 putting it in your hair. too cool and it wont straighten. too hot and you burn off your hair! of course it only works for as long as the weather holds. humidity and/or water will make your hair revert to its normal state.

well the old fshion ones are metal and you heat them on the stove, or the new ones are metal and you can plug them in the wall, you use them to strighten your hair out
