It is like this: God is a King and is creator of everything, so he seems to think that he owns it all. He also has plans for the future and knows how he wants things done. He wants a people that will follow him and serve him as their King, Father, and Lord. So we are here to find out if that is what we want to do. He gives a certain amount of time here and we can experiment around a bit and see what we want to do. We eventually decide what we want and then we have a time to live our decision..
God is not cruel or insecure, he is doing what he wants and will no matter what..
His commandments are good, loving, and kind. ( you may disagree with him) Anyway when he gets to the end of this period of time then he is going to start something new. If anyone wants to follow him and do his will then they go with him.
If not then the only option is hell. This may seem harsh to you, but it is not about you or me, but about him and his program. He created us the way we are and if we want to follow then ok and if not ok too.

This is a hard question to answer accurately, because none of us knows the mind of God or knows what his plans are for eternity. One possible answer though is that God is God, and no one else is. God gave us everything we have and made us everything we are. In our pride and arrogance, some of us have decided to essentially flip God the bird, not acknowledging his bounty and not caring about his gifts (the world, our souls, other souls, etc.). It is possible that God has the right to be angry about this. Imagine if you gave and gave and gave to someone you loved and they never even turned around to LOOK at you, never mind express any gratitude. It would be difficult for you, wouldn't it? And you're a person, with limited means to give limited things. Whereas God is unlimited and has the power to give everything. One could argue that it certainly isn't cruelty and insecurity that causes God to "punish." God is neither of those things. But God may very well indeed get angry at the profound lack of humility that human beings exhibit--asking stupid questions about him, refusing to acknowledge that he is the creator, saying awful, blasphemous things about him. It's possible that this angers him, is what I'm saying. I don't know if it actually does. ... But anyway, while the Bible talks about eternal punishment, it also says that humankind is already saved. It is a paradox. It could be that for those who do not love and submit to God--he who gave them everything they are--they are already living in Hell, here on Earth. Because to be separated from the only being that is good--namely, God--is to live in Hell.

Shame on you for even thinking that way. God left us His Word to comfort us. So you know who His Word is? Its His Son Jesus Christ. His comfort comes from the words contained in the Bible through His Holy Spirit. I suggest that you go there and study to show yourself approved.
God is a God of Love not hate.
When it all boils down, and you look in the pot, you will see the face of the devil Satan himself staring back at you. Its him that causes people to be cruel and hateful.
No, God does not punish us people that don't follow Him. We punish ourselves.
I will pray for you and everyone from time to time that the veil will be lifted and you can see.

GOD is not and has never been insecure. Man brings the punishments on himself. If GOD wanted to he could wipe mankind off the face of the earth in a second. But we are killing ourselves, he doesn't have too. He wants us to love one another and treat each other as we would ourselves. We just don't seem to get it. GOD has mercy on us though and still wants our miserable souls to go to heaven, so he sent his only son to die on the cross for our sins so that we could be saved and go to live with him in heaven. And we still refuse, and don't get it. Time is very very short, the end of times are here.

That's easy.
That way there is a clear difference with Life with Christ and Life without Christ. Then when you discover the difference you can give testimony and bring glory back to God.
John 9:3 Jesus said this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.

God is all loving and all powerful...he doesn't punish anyone who doesn't follow him, you are bringing on the punishment yourself, you are the one that decides whether to believe in HIM or not, it's your choice...he is reaching out for everyone, and he loves us all, but if we in the long run decide to stay away from God and ignore him HE has no choice but to condemn you...how would you act if you were a father and your child would spit in your face?
and call you names? and how would you feel if the child of yours tells you to leave them alone?
You love them enough to let them go their own way and learn on their own, same with God...:)
He loves you, and he waits for you to turn to HIM, but if you choose to never believe......then really you are already condemned.
Basically the choice is up to you!
Will you take his hand? Will you love HIM?
or will you ignore him and disobey him??
Really up to you!
Take care and God Bless!
Jane.

I dont think He punishes them. You see God knows what choices we will make but gives us the free will to choosewhat we will do. complicated.....yes very much. But at least He gives us the free will. I think that Satan may try to tell you that because you aren't a believer that you will be punished. God does not ACCEPT us for who we are but LOVES us for who we are.
