I don't think it bothers them that much, since they don't believe in heaven. They believe that a person is reincarnated and that who they are in their next life depends on how they live their current live. A buddha is a person who has achieved enlighenment and has broken from the cycle of birth and rebirth.

Buddhism in a non-theistic religion. That's not the same as atheism, exactly, though to some extent it's semantics and just a means of avoiding the connotation of the word "atheism".

In any case, without a theistic ideology, Buddhists would not be sad about something they don't believe in. But really, nothing prevents a Buddhist from also being a Christian. Not so in the reverse, as to most Christians, Buddhism is a heathen religion.

Note: There are people claiming to be Buddhist or referring to Buddhism as a religion that promotes a belief in reincarnation. While this may be true, depending on what sect one is a part of, there are Buddhists who do not believe in a "soul" and thus they do not believe in reincarnation as one might immediately imagine it. The sense of continuity in a rebirth does not have to mean maintaining a sense of self, and it can also be a belief that one's energy is transferred to something else, but the sense of self is lost (or absorbed) in the transition.

Buddhists believe that heaven and hell are states of life that exist both in life as we know it and after death. Just think, pearly gates can exist in eveyday life. We try to elevate our life conditions every day. So, we are not sad. But thanks for thinking about it.

No, Buddhists know living on this earth, at this time, in this moment is heaven. Maybe the next time, life on earth may seem like hell. We are the sacred ones and we make our own heaven or hell

Hmm. Interesting question. Probably skeptical would be a more likely reaction as I am sure Gandhi would have inquired about the pearls on the gates.

That's not what they believe in, so I'd have to say no.
That's kind of like asking that if you are sad that you cant participate in their afterlife because you aren't Buddhist?
