You can get some light dumb-bells and stand up straight hold them at your side. Lean side to side and that will burn the love handles. I like to do this in the privacy of my own home cause it looks kinda ridiculas. ; )

Good question Lady B.
You'll only hear about ways to get rid of love handles in advertisements and TV commercials. But, the truth is that as we get older, fat tends to settle in specific places and the waist is one of those areas. If you want to get rid of the fat in the waist area, you have to up your aerobic exercise level or lower your daily calorie intake. Even then, you will succeed only in reducing your overall fat levels. You can't specifically tell your body to reduce your fat from around your waist but leave the good fat (say in your cheeks) alone.
Some people may tell you to do exercises to increase the muscle ior muscle tone in the side of your waist. But, that isn't such a good idea. When you do that, the muscles will get bigger on your sides. Then, any fat you gain will go on top of that muscle and make the side bulges even larger.
So the best solution is to workout regularly and eat a good diet that doesn't include a lot of fat. That way you are dealing with a more natural equilibrium that shouldn't result in you getting big on the sides.
Good luck and good question.

This seems to be one of the popular question in gyms around the world ... How do I get rid of fat from my abdominal area? Melt fat from my thighs? Get rid of my love handles? Shrink my gluteus maximus? Lose the flab from around my lower back?
There is no such thing as targeting an area for fat loss
The abdominal machines and gizmos are among the most popular pieces of fitness equipment on the market. Why? Because almost all of us would like to have a flatter stomach. A lean midsection tells the world you are fit. You care about your body. You eat right and you exercise.
One of the myths perpetuated through the years has been the idea of "spot reduction". I'll tell you right now, it's total bull. There is absolutely no way to lose fat in a specific area of your body by doing a certain exercise or using a specific gizmo.
Here's the hard and simple truth. The only way to lose fat in your lower abs, or any other "trouble area" for that matter, is to lower your overall body fat percentage. It's all about body composition - the amount of fat versus the amount of muscle you carry around on your body.
You'll hear the term "target your abs" or "feel the burn" when you do this or that exercise or use this or that machine. What you are "targeting" is the muscle that lays underneath the fat. That's fine. You definitely want to work those muscles. But you won't see those muscles or get that lean midsection until you lower your body fat percentage - change your body composition.
How do you change your body composition for the better?
Simple. Here it is. The way to lose fat and gain muscle, the way to improve your physique, the way to get rid of the fat in those trouble areas... In just three sentences... Eat smaller meals several times a day instead of just a couple of big meals. Get some cardiovascular exercise that raises your heart rate and elevates your breathing level at least 3 times per week. Train your muscles with weights about 2 or 3 times per week.

There are two programs I hear women rave about. One of them is The Firm and the other is T-Tapp. I don't necessarily endorse them or not endorse them, I merely pass on what I hear from women. Others swear by Pilates. Kids tell me Dance, Dance Revolution is the one to get, but it plays on PlayStation. Anyway besides the above search the different programs on the web. Just type into your search engine, how to lose love handles. You will see a plethora of links on the subject. Good luck.

hard to say, sweety
but:
stored fat only burns during prolonged periods of aerobic activity
and
the greater your muscle mass, the more you burn
oh and weird fact about abdominal fat stores:
abdominal fat does not layer like fat in other places on the body
instead
original fat cells that you have had since birth continue to balloon and expand...
might not be helpful info right now
but
knowledge is power

You can not target weight loss...you can only loose weight and wherever the fat is will shrink. You have to burn calories with cardio and eventually the love handles will go away.

depends on where they are.. if your referring to the ones on your side, do the modified situp where sit up then use you side muscle to pull that side around towards your legs then go the other way and back down.. and side bends or side leg raises are good too (if you concentrate on using that muscle in particular to lift them leg)
