Two other answer peeps are right, they differe from town to town. go to radioshack or the police department and you can find a list. the website, www.cityfreq.com gives you frequencies for your local area and tells you who owns them. like the local drive thru resturants. owning a scanner at home isn't illegal. however, dont expect to get a list of 10-codes that will be complete, some websites give a generic list, while the local departments will NEVER disclose all the codes just for security purposes. for example they will not tell you which code is for a bomb threat, or which one is for a person fleeing from the law listening by scanner. that gives too much information away.

You might try your local Radio Shack or other places that sell scanners. They sometimes have lists for the local police, fire and rescue units -- even the state troopers -- for their own use, and some are willing to share them. Googling for them would be worth a try, too. But I'd be specific about which departments you're looking for because some codes will vary from agency to agency.

Believe it or not, your local police department can help you sometimes.

Check your local ordinance to see having such scanners are allowed first. In most areas, having one in cars are not allowed, and I've been told, in some states, having one at all is not allowed.

Then call your police departments NON-EMERGENCY number, and inquire. It is important you do NOT call 911. By the way, there are no standards for 10 codes. They are different from department to department.
