It depends on their guidelines, and the branch of the service. Some branches have stricter guidelines. I was rejected from the Marine Corp. for being 1 lb. overweight, and they tried to get a waiver thru Washinton and all, but no go. But they have more relaxed regulations now, so check it out.
You didn't say how hefty you were? But if you can do all those exercises then you need to be pushing back from the table or doing them more often and you wouldn't have a problem. Not to mention the psychological benefits.
Get serious, you are using your weight as an excuse. Except in very few cases, the only reason that people are overweight is eating too much, or lack of exercise.
I did something about mine.(I was 175lbs.) I changed the way I ate, and lived in a gym. It takes self-discipline but you can do it if you want it bad enough.
After that I had 4 kids, and still weigh 128lbs.
It's all a matter of choice,The only magical formula is in you!
Good Luck

See a recruit, they have the height/weight charts and if you become a pulley they will help you lose weight. It's good that you're in shape because if you make it to boot camp you won't have to struggle as much as other people. Remember there are other aspects that can DQ you from joining besides your hefty-ness...Like if you have asthma, injuries, medications, how high you score on the A.S.V.A.B. etc. I hope you are joining the US Army, it's the best one.

I saw a man who was hefty lose a lot of weight in basic. The run is acually two miles to pass the PT test. You also have to do situps.
Talk to a recruiter. He or she will be glad to help.

The DEPS doctor can give you a waiver if your weight isn't that much off. Then when you get shipped they will do a weigh in and if you pass you'll be fine but i would start trying to drop the weight and get a head start on things. (armygirl2675@yahoo)

No.

You have to meet height weight requirements.

In the event that you do make it in.
If you don't drop weight...when you get to your unit, your unit will give you 6 months to shape up or you're chaptered out.

Drop weight & you'll be fine.

Given the challenges the armed forces are having in recruiting, my guess is that they'd take you even if you COULDN'T do the pushups!

Did the recruiter tape you? The height and weight scale is rediculous. That's why they have the tape test.

being a fatboy in the army myself, i can tell you that as long as you can make tape, youll be fine. you just need to do what you need to do keep the weight off or make tape. either increase your neck, or decrease your belly.
