I have changed my cats names so many times I think they probably have developed an identity disorder!
Seriously, your kitty will be fine.
One of my cats started as Sadie, then became Sadie Sue, then Sadie Sue Bug...now she is just Bug. And she seems alright to me. As long as you give them food, love and a lap to sit on I don't think they much care what you call them.

Provided you register the 'change of name' at your local Police Station in case she ever goes missing and the officers searching are wasting their time calling her by her old name, Pearl and she does not answer. Tell the Desk Sergeant exactly how you pronounce the name Babette...................

Not weird. When my cat Sunny was about a year old we adopted him from my mother-in-law. He had about three names then but we changed it to Sunny. He knows his name and comes most of the time when called.

Many cats change their name, especially when they go to Hollywood. Just make sure you go to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles and change the name on your cat's license. If a policeman stops her when she's driving, he may arrest her if her driver's license doesn't match her nametag.

It is entirely ok to change your cats name. Cats are very smart. People often call their pets by other affectionate names. I often call my dogs baby girls, but that is not their names. They are also smart enough to know. If we really knew how smart animals really are we would be amazed!

We did it when our cat was a few months old...You've got to only call the cat one name though that you agree on and you've got to stick to it if you want the cat to respond.

It's not weird. My cat has so many nicknames that I don't even call him by his real name anymore.

My dogs were a few months old when we changed their names. I don't see why it wouldn't work for a cat, but if you want her to answer to one name, you gotta drop one of them.

I think it will be fine. She will learn to recognize both names. My cat is Iggy, but he answers to Kitty, also. He also answers to the can opener and refrigerator door!
