Stop - do not take the advice to take a hot shower!!
The reason sunburn is sore is that your skin and the flesh near to it got too hot. The bodies response is to rush to try and cool it.
If you put hot water on it that will make it worse!
Also if you put Vaseline on a burn it will not only make it worse it will slow the healing process. That goes for any greasy substance. These tend to seal the skin keeping the heat in and the air out. Look up burn in any medical book worldwide and you will find that written large as the worst possible thing you can do with a burn.
Aloe Vera is about as good as you can get for naturally repairing the effects on the skin.
The best way to deal with the pain is to put cool, not cold, wet towels on the areas most effected and replace them regularly.
For under the eyes I would suggest slices of cucumber cut to fit and again replaced at regular intervals.
An old remedy and one that has some good effects is calamine lotion. It certainly cools but you end up covered in white powder and if you are using wet towels it gets messy.
Finaly you can use airflow from a fan or airconditioner which will cool the skin and assist a little with the healing.
If it is a heavy burn the effects will last three to five days. Hope yours improves very soon.

Rehydration!! You must replace the fluids you have lost by dehydration (the burn itself). It's also common to get the chills as well, with a bad burn. For bathing, tepid sponge bath with vinegar- (I know it stinks), but you will get almost instant relief with the pain. Just pour a moderate amount in to the bath water and take a wash rag and drizzle it over your front, shoulders and back. Pat dry, don't rub & very light clothing. Take a day or two off work and continue drinking fluids (water is best) and using the aloe. Next time someone tells you to take the sunscreen along, you'll already have it packed, right? Bad burns like the one you describe, can haunt you many years after the fact. Be more careful next time. Okay? Signed--Been there, done that!
PS Hope this gives you some relief!

As a former burn unit nurse and a person who has suffered being "fried" at the beach, I've never really found anything that took it away. Use neosporin on the burns on your face until they are healed, and Eucerine lotion (or it's generic) on the rest of your body. These are the things we used in the burn unit. The neosporin was the only thing used for the face regardless of the degree of burn or healing stage and Eucerine was used on the rest of the body after it reached a nearly healed state.

Just keep putting aloe. It will still be painfull the first few days. Also, refridgerate your aloe to make it cold. This will make to aloe much more comfortable when applied to the skin.

Try an after sun cooling gel like Solarcaine's. It will soothe the burn and stop the burn. Also try some lavender essential oil maybe mixed in to a lotion or other carrier oil. Lavender is great for burns!!

What you need is a burn gel that contains Lidocaine. It will be blue, and if you keep it in the refrigerator, it's the most soothing fix you can get. Lidocaine is a topical anisthetic, so it numbs the burning.

Sunburns can be bad enough to go see the doctor. If the pain doesn't get better, you should see a doctor.
